Happy New Year

I didn't have time to make another New Year's card

So I went searching on my blog to try and find one.

This is a card I made and posted back in 2009.

It was posted the first year that I started my blog.

Oh my goodness!  Where did that time go?

Hope everyone reading this...has a wonderful New Year.

Thank you for visiting.

I Love books

I love to read.  I have to be grateful  to my Mother for that...
She seemed to always have a book in her hand.
Every Christmas I could count on finding books under the Christmas tree for me.  She also joined a Children's book club for me.  I so looked forward each month to see what book they were sending to me.
Books like, Black Beauty, The Secret Garden, Little Women, etc.

I have mentioned before that I'm a member of Good reads...where I can log my books, and try to meet a challenge each year.  I Challenged myself to read 50 books this year...
AND I MET MY CHALLENGE...  The above book was book number 50.
Hope everyone is having a good day.
Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Pocket card

I was so behind in making cards.  So I decided to try and make some quick cards to send out.

I enjoy making these cards. It's mainly card folding.  When Your card is done you have a pocket inside the card where you can insert a gift card, picture, money, etc.  I made 9 of these and since I couldn't put a gift card in every one.  I put a post card inside with my Christmas greeting and told the people that I sent them to...That they could reuse the card as a gift card or money holder.

I hope everyone reading this had a Very Merry Christmas...Filled with many Blessings.

Thank you for visiting my blog today...Jill

Music

I stamped this image a while ago.  I think it came out of one my purchased craft magazines.  I colored the image with copics.  I made this for a challenge at Split Coast stampers for the Twisted sister Challenge.

This will not be the Christmas I had hoped for...  Since I got really sick with a virus a few weeks ago.  It really put me behind with every thing,  and my Vertigo returning after 5 years of thinking It was cured and wouldn't have to worry about it again.  Well, so much for that.  I keep reminding myself that things could be much worse.  I am so fortunate with the one fall that I had...well that could have had much worse results too.  (I fell backwards on a hard surface.   So scary.   Hopefully, it will get better now that I managed to get appointments set up with a physical therapist.

I managed to get about half my cards in the mail...Hope to complete the rest with New Year's cards, etc.  The problem Is that I was trying to get them done as quickly as a could.  (I am a slow crafter.  I forgot to take pictures of most of my cards before I put them in the mail.

I hope everyone reading this page...has a very special, blessed Christmas with friends and family and good health.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Trees

I made this card for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  The challenge was to have trees on our cards.  This is a stamp from Our Daily Bread  Designs.  It is meant to be a graduation stamp ..but I think it makes a nice background for a sympathy card.

I'm still working on my Christmas cards.  I'm almost done, but till I get them in the mail.  They will be received late.  I hope I do better next year.

Jill

Another Twisted Sister card

Everyone else is posting Christmas cards on their blogs...(except me)  I'm still in the process of making my Christmas cards.  I'm afraid that my cards may not be received till after
Christmas.  I'm thinking that maybe I should start making some New Year card instead...(smile)

I made the above card for a friend using using an old 3-D sheet that I had.  I fussy cut the flowers.  I used a Pink Fresh Cover plate die for my back ground (Floral tiles) And a Stampin' Up Rectangle stitched Die to make my black frame.

Dinner is served

I'm still trying to get caught up on my commenting and posting.

I'm slowly getting there... This was a card that I made for a challenge at Split Coast stampers.  I posted the card in October.

For the challenge we were supposed to make a card with Food on it.  For the challenge I dug out this very old Stampin' Up stamp.

This was the very first SU stamp that I had ever purchased.

I had a friend help me me to cut the stamp out.  Do you remember when you had to cut around the stamps from SU?

I'm thankful that now they  come already cut out.

Originally purchased this card to make a card for my hubby.  The chef in our house hold... Yes!  He is a great cook!  (and I know how fortunate I am).

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Thank You card!

This is  a card that I actually made in JULY! I made it for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  The Challenge was to make a card in my favorite technique.  My favorite technique is Iris Folding.

I made this as a thank you card for a friend that lives in California.  She sent us a beautiful anniversary gift and I wanted to make a special card for her.

Besides the Irish folding, it has copic colored butterflies that I punched out, and I added sticker for my sentiment.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Jill

Late again

This is a jointly made card.  My granddaughter wanted to make a card for our neighbor.  She gave my granddaughter free fire wood for her fireplace.

This makes me feel OLD when I say that my granddaughter has purchased her first home.  She likes her house but she thinks it's too small.  I think it's just a perfect size, and it's not much different than the size of our house.    (Hope she doesn't read this...smile.   I really love her!  Don't want her to get upset with me for saying that)

She used  a Stampin' Up set that I have to make the card.  It's called the great outdoors!  She colored the stamp.  I helped her with the design and she put the card together.  I love it when we make cards together.

AGAIN, I have to apologize for being missing in action here.

I do have an excuse for part of the time.  Hubby and I were really sick with that latest Flue?  or whatever that was.  We tested negative for Covid.  We had what felt like a terrible cold, coughing and major migraine headache.  I had a two day headache which brought my vertigo back again.  I had that 4 years and and was in the hospital for 5 days with it.  I was sure hoping that I would not have to go to the hospital again for that.   so far, NOT!  But I still have it...but I think it's getting a little bit better.  If anyone sees me walking  these days they will probably think I had to much to drink...smile

I didn't finish answering all the lovely comments I received while I was away from blog I hope to get to finish responding to the rest tomorrow.  Thank you, and Thank you for visiting  my blog.

Blessings, Jill

Garden card

I made this card for a new neighbor that moved in across the street from me.  She has the prettiest yard in the neighborhood.  She obviously likes to garden (unlike me)

I know that not everyone likes to mail cards these days.  Can't blame them with the high cost of postage.  But I decided to make her a box of my home made cards to welcome her to the neighbor hood.  I told her if she didn't send cards she could always gift them to someone else.

She seemed to love her cards.   To my surprise about a week later I received an invitation from her to come to her house for a tea party for me and another friend in my neighborhood. What a nice time we had.  She had the most delicious treats for us, and made us really feel welcome.

Since This happened a few months ago and I may have previously posted some of the cards I gave her... I may have mentioned this before.  Now I am working on trying to get a neighborhood tea party together to thank her.

Thanks for stopping by today...

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend.

Blessings, Jill

Two Months Later

It's been so long since I posted a card...

That I almost forgot how to do it...

This is a birthday card that I sent (a while ago) to a blogging friend.  I think I stamped the image from a stamp in one of my magazines.  I used copics to color the image.

This is the longest break I have made in posting since 2009.

Hopefully, I will be able to post more.  Time just seems to fly away.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Lattice card

I loved seeing all the lattice cards on the internet!  I had to give it a try !

It's a card that can be made rather quickly!  there's a lot of great videos on the net showing you how to do this.  I made this card even quicker by using some sun flower stickers (that I had in my stash for a very LONG time)  I thought that is was way over do for me to use them.

Hope you are having a great weekend

Blessings,

Jill.

My friend's Birthday card!

I made this card for a dear long time friend of mine.

It's a bit late because she was going to come to my house to visit...and we still haven't managed to get together  yet.

Many years ago, we were next door neighbors and we would see each other almost every day.  You can probably guess by this card that my friend is a quilter!  A very good one!  We sued to get together and craft together.  It was NOT making cards though.  It was for crocheting and knitting.  If fact she knitted me an afghan That I still have laying on top of one of my chairs.

As I am typing this post...it's reminding to give her another call and try again for another get together.

My Granddaughter's birthday card

This is the birthday card I made for my granddaughter's birthday!

I gave it to her soon after I finished making it...so I didn't take enough time to get a better photo of it.

The stamp I used to make this card is from Hero Arts and called "The sky is the Limit.

I used copics to color this card... (hubby colored the Yellow balloon for me) I sponged the back ground and fussy cut the images. The clouds were cut out with a die from  Sweet and Sassy stamps!

And Yes, she has been up in a hot air balloon!  She is much braver than her grandmother!

Thank Your for visiting my blog today.

Happy Trails

I made this sympathy  card for a very close family member of mine.  We kind of grew up together. He felt like a brother to me.

He loved horses and watching cowboy shows and playing cowboys.  He was one of the nicest people I know and always made me laugh.  I thought this card would fit him perfectly.

The inside reads  "Until We meet again!"

The card was made using fabric!

My husband colored this image for me with copics...

All I had to do was make it into a card.  I die cut a frame.

I gave this card to the lady that had been my mother's best friend for many years.

She loved the card.

Happy Father's Day

Now that I have given this card to my hubby...   I can post it!

The shed was made using an embossing folder from Hunkydory!

I tried to make it look somewhat like my hubby's shed in our yard!

The lawnmower is also made using a stamp from Hunkydory.

I think my hubby had a nice day visiting with our daughter.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

3D card

I made this card for my sister's birthday!

It was made from an OLD 3D sheet I found in my stash.

Don't know what year it's even from.

When I first started making cards many, many years ago...

I started with 3D cards.  I liked to fussy cut back then, and they were fun putting them together.  Since that time I have had trouble with my shoulder and my hands some times lock up on  me....so I don't do too much fussy cutting these days.  plus I like to add extra layers to them for extra dimension...so I don't mail too many of these kind of cards due to the increasing cost of postage.  If I make one of these it's usually a card I can hand deliver as I did this one.

Thank you for visiting my blog today...

Cherry Card

I made this card for the twisted sisters group at Splitcoast Stampers.'

There's a challenge every month.. and this card was made for a challenge a few months ago  (Yes, I am late in posting some of my cards)  We were to make a card with Cherries on it...or Cherry Blossoms.

I was trying to do the Bargello Technique.  But it didn't go quite the way I wanted it to.  I just hope the person I sent it to liked it.

Thank you for visiting my blog,

Hope you have a great weekend.

Iris card for a Friend

I can't take too much credit for this card.!

Hubby colored the image for me with copics, and I just stamped a sentiment and made it into a card.

Our Iris were also some of the prettiest blooms we had in a long time.  Jim has planted so many pretty colors, besides the blue, the purple, white, and a golden color!  All Beautiful!

A few years ago a neighbor's mother was visiting her son who lives on our street.  She took photos of our Iris, and published them on the front page of  her club's newsletter in Arizona, Then she mailed us a copy of the newsletter.

I guess it's not too much to be excited about!  but we were!  I told everyone we were  (sort of) on the front page of a newsletter .See it doesn't take too much to make us happy...smile!

Thank you for visiting my blog,,,

Keep smiling!

Where does the time go?

It's been a long time since I have been here and I apologize,  Time just seems to get away from me !

I made this card back when the daffodil's were still in bloom.  I think they were prettier this year than I have ever seen them.  They seem to last longer too.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

Hope you are having a great weekend.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes!

I wish I could say that I had a great day..  I was sick on my birthday and also on Mother's day, and in between I broke a tooth.

I hope better days are ahead...smile...

I have a confession to make... I hate letting go of things.

I am way too sentimental!  I made the above card using an image that I cute from a pillow that I had made for Mother-in-law for Mother's day many years ago.  She really liked the pillow that I made for her and when we lost her....   The pillow was given back to me.  It was really starting to show wear and I knew it was time to let it go.  So I tried to see if I could cut around my cross-stitching and m make it into a card.  I sent the card to my sister-in-law for Mother's day.  (My mother in law's youngest daughter). She seemed to appreciate the card.

Birthday card for my neighbor

I made this birthday card for my neighbor.  This was my second try at making a card for her for her birthday.  My first card failed!  I think I'm losing my touch!

I thought this card might work because we have these yellow Daffodil's blooming in our yard right now.  Spring flowers are always my favorite.

Hubby colored the flower for me.  I stamped the flower using a stamp that came in the latest magazine that I purchased.  "Simply Cards & Papercrafts."

Twisted Sister Challenge

I'm a member of a group at Split Coast Stampers called the Twisted Sisters.

Each month someone issues a Challenge for the group to do.  This month the challenge was to put "Splatters" on our cards.

Splatters!  It was a first for me.  I came up with this idea for my Splatters card.  I took a piece of watercolor paper (first time using that paper, and my watercolors  (which I may have used once or twice) and I started flicking the colors on a piece of paper with my paint brush...when it dried I took my stamp and stamped it on the splatter paper and cut out pieces that I could Paper Piece her dress with the splatter paper.

It was a fun project which I will try again.

I'm in need for some birthday cards to replenish my supply.  I thought this one would make a cute card for a birthday.

I finally managed to make some more cards...Now all I have to do is find time to post them.

Hope everyone is doing well...

Anniversary card

This is an Anniversary card I made for friends of mine.
The front of the card was made using a die that came with my new Gemini machine.  I was surprised at how well this intricate die cut in my new machine.  If I used my old machine I would have to run it through many times.
The inside of the card was made using a stamp from Stampendous.  My husband colored the flowers for me.  I cut the flowers out with the matching die, and used Glossy accents on the vase.  I ran (what I guess is supposed to be a doily on the bottom of the vase) Through an embossing folder.
I added a verse to the inside of the card.  It turned out so nice with the verse but I forgot to take a pic of it before I put the card in the mail.

Twisted sister FEB challenge

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3_xbUj2hBc

Hopefully, I put in the right link on how I made the above card.

This card was done for a challenge at the Twisted Sister group at Splitcoast Stampers.  Ina issues us this challenge.

I used some very old Stampin' Up paper that had been a favorite of mine.  I like the colors and the pink roses on the paper.  I've been hanging on to some of my stuff for way too long.

I will add a sentiment on the front when I mail the card.

Thank you for stopping by my blot today.

My Sisters cards

My sister was finally able to come and make cards with me...

She liked all the sample cards that I made for her to choose from.  Her favorite was obviously the single rose card.  She gave me permission to post her cards.  I think she did a great job making her cards.  Keep in mind that this is someone that I have tried to get to come and make cards with me for a long time.  She told me she wouldn't be able to do it.  Wrong!  I think she did a great job on both cards.

The first card she colored with copics...

And the second card was made using a stampendous stamp!  It's for her granddaughter's 13the birthday.  I think I now have her hooked on card making.  She's already talking about coming next month to make a card for her daughter's birthday.

So much more fun when you have someone to make cards with you.  In fact my next door neighbor came over too to make a card.

Hope everyone has a great week.

and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Another sample card

This is another sample card I had made to show my sister as a sample to see what card she wanted to make for her friend.

The problem is because of her busy schedule and me getting sick...we've had to cancel a couple of times.  Oh well, if it's too late for her to make her card.  I do have some cards to add to my stash.

I made this center fold card using flowers from one of my magazines.  (I've been putting them to good use).

I used a stamp set from Simply Cards and Papercraft..  Issue 191.

I colored my flowers with copics and cut out an oval die using a die from Die-namics  Oval open scallop doily.  Added a ribbon.

Thank you for visiting my blog today.

I will be back later today to enter some of the wonderful kind comets I received from my last post.   Thank you!

Yellow and purple

These are some cards I made a few weeks ago.  The images and background papers are from one of my magazines ."Debbi Moore Paper crafting Magazine". I like the pretty images but the problem is when I purchased the magazine... I didn't realize how many things have to be fussy cut!  I actually like to fussy cut.  (I think it reminds me of my childhood) But it's just too hard on my shoulder these days.

Thank you for visiting my blog...

My neighbor's card

This is a card I helped my neighbor to make for her husband's birthday.

She gave me permission to post her card.   It was made with a new stamp set I purchased.  (Stampendous)

Their two doggies (which I'm crazy about too...are like their children)  (I'm sure many of you can relate to that)

Tomorrow I hope to be able to finally sit down again and make some more of my own cards.

I am just so thankful that I can even type again.  More info than you might want to know....

Hubby had to take me to the ER because of the pain in my right arm.  (I could not even lift my arm without having a great deal of pain).  I tried typing on my blog, etc. with my left hand...and it was really slow going.

The good news for me is, obviously, since I am typing this... It means that my arm is doing so better.  Thanks to pain pills and an injection.

Now I need to catch up with my commenting again.

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog

Blessings,

jill
