Where does the time go?

What is your favorite Month of the year?

February is the shortest month, but to me MAY is the shortest month. It ALWAYS seems to just fly by. This month even more so, because we either had weather that was above normal, or below normal, or just lots of cloudy rainy days. So where was spring? I must have missed it? May is still my favorite month of the year.

Favorite Things Friday #13

A Question for you. When you see the R on the pillow---What is the first word beginning with R can you think of?
My R word is rain.! I Probably thought of the word RAIN because it's raining right now and I'm hoping that it's not going to rain tomorrow for my granddaughter's class trip!
I've already posted that one of favorite things to do is cross-stitch, so I guess instead I will say that one of my favorite things is the pattern that I used to do this cross-stitch pillow as a gift for my sister-in-law and her husband for their Anniversary. I used this pattern at least four times, besides the R pillow, I remember making a B, V, and W.

A Mother's Love

Having trouble deciding what title I wanted to call this card. I made this card for my Mother to give as a New Baby card...I really like the image...

pyramid sheet made by Toby, I also used a teabag medallion I made using the fold from here....

I also used Vellum, and my cuttlebug for the corners on the medallion, and paper punch by Fiskars.

Below is a Utube video that was posted at Circle of crafters, It shows some excellent instructions on how to make a pyramid card.

Life begins the day...

Life begins the day you start a garden. That is the quote on the front of this card...so maybe it's not exactly true...But many of my earliest happy childhood memories are of me playing in our backyard garden. It was a great start in life...

Red White and Blue

This is one of the earliest cards I made, and I still have it! Didn't think the card was good enough to send to anyone...but I wanted to post something Red,White, and Blue...and it's the only card I have to fit the theme.

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

He shall direct your paths

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all ways acknowledge Him, and he shall direct your paths." ~Proverbs 3 5-6
The teabag medallion that I put on this card was made for me by a friend, given to me in a swap. Thank you Marie. The picture is an old picture that I have had for many years, it reminded me of the many times I walked that road.

Tom's Birthday

Today is my brother-in-law's birthday, so I am posting this card in his honor. The quote I'm posting would also fit Tom!

Favorite things Friday #12

By now, If you have been looking at my blog, you know that making greeting cards is one of my favorite things to make. Paper crafting has also been one of my favorite things to do, even as a child with cutting and pasting, and paper dolls, I was content with just giving me paper, paste, and scissors!

I made this "paper" house as a gift for my sister-in-law many years ago, but she still has it, and kindly took a photograph of it for me to post here. The pattern came from a Leisure Arts book "Christmas Gifts of Good Taste." I gave it to her with a loaf of pound cake inside the box. She now uses it to keep mail inside. The house is made with a shoe box, and paper twist. I made several of these to give away as gifts, they are easy to make but just a bit time consuming.

More 3D flowers

I probably make more flower cards than anything else, but I just love flowers, and seeing all the spring flowers helps to bring a smile to my face. Hope you are enjoying spring! "He who plants a garden plants happiness."~Chinese Proverb

Mola Card

I made this card for My Stampin Up Demonstrator (but it doesn't have any Stamping done on the card). The Birthday saying is a rub on...and I purchased the small white rose embellishment. I used a punch for the green squares. Designer paper used is from Stampin Up

The technique I used to make these cards is Called "Mola." Doing this technique is my first try with using an Exacto Knife. I do a lot of paper cutting but I usually use a small scissors. (a scherenschnitte scissors--Hopefully, I spelled that correctly.
The link where I found the directions for these cards can be found here.

Card from My daughter...

I'm posting the card that my daughter made me for Mother's day...Anyone who has looked at my blog for a while now, will know that I am addicted to making cards. Card Making is one of my very favorite pastimes. Now I think I am getting both my daughter and granddaughter into the same habit!

Blue Monday May 11

Welcome to Blue Monday, I hope I have enough BLUE here today for BLUE Monday. I had such a nice Mother's day yesterday, but a busy day, and didn't have much to get ready for my BLUE Monday post.

Forgive me if this is cheating, I wanted to show you a picture of the gift I gave my Mother for Mother's day. This is something I purchased when we vacationed in California two years ago. (The tablecloth is blue ...smile) I crochet, but I could never crochet anything like this...the stitches are so tiny. One of the reasons I'm showing you the gift that I gave my Mother yesterday, is that it's a sneaky way to show you one of my vacation photos. I love to look at other people's vacation photos...but I know that not everyone does. I can't remember exactly where it was taken, but I do know it's the beautiful BLUE water of California.

I've lived in Pennsylvania my whole life. Anyone living in this area, or has ever visited my area...knows that the water here is NOT Blue. One of the things I remember most about our vacation in California is the beautiful BLUE water. I took so many vacation picture of just BLUE water scenes I was so fascinated with seeing all that BLUE

Last Blue Monday, I talked about the quilt my daughter made for me...I'm showing just one of the pillows she made to match the quilt. My goal this spring is to get my bedroom painted so I show my quilt on my bed.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to you.

Today, I am posting a pillow that I made for my Mother a few years ago. Blogging has made me want to get back to doing all these things again...cross-stitching, sewing, crochet, etc. All I need is the time (and better eyesight)

New Mother's day card

The last couple of days I have been posting some of my previous Mother's day cards. Today's card is the one I'm giving to my Mother tomorrow.

Favorite Things Friday #11

Today is supposed to be Iris Day...
The Iris flower is my second favorite flower (the rose being my first) So my favorite thing for today...is the Iris

Mother's day card

This is a card I gave to My Mother for Mother's day, I believe two years ago. I liked the image on the card because it reminded me so much of a photo taken of me when I was about the same age. I was wearing a similar dress, and I had owned a hat that looked very much like the one in the photo.

Garden card

The front of the card

The above card contained actual seed packets. I gave the card to my sister-in-law and she did plant the seeds in her beautiful garden.

This is a card I made last spring at my Monthly stamping night class. My stampin up demonstrator showed us how to do the card and helped us get it together. I'm putting the link below where she found the instructions. I'm always amazed at the creativity of the people you see on the net. I'm so thankful there are so many people willing to share their many talents. Clink on the link and you will also see a lovely poem to print.. "To Bless Your Garden of Friendships"

Blue Monday

Hopefully, I am posting my FIRST Blue Monday post correctly...
Other blue Monday posts can be found here

Since My blog was originally started to show my cards and other crafts...I had to make a card to match my other BLUE items that I am posting.

I know my dishes are very common but to me they are very special. The starter set for the dishes was bought for me by my Mother and Step-father (now deceased). Since that time, our daughter and several other family members have added to my basic collection, and given me pieces to match my original starter set. For gifts, I have received my meat platter, glasses, bowls, coffee carafe, place mats, towels, salt and pepper shakers, etc.

I always wanted to sew a quilt, but still haven't done it. Chances are that I will never get around to making a quilt, but I have made "quilt" squares and made them into pillows, and aprons, etc.

My daughter made me a lovely quilt and it's done in my favorite colors pink and BLUE.

100+ cards

It's still hard for me to believe I have a blog, and even harder for me to believe that I have just over 100 cards posted to my blog in a little over three months. I want to thank all of you who have visited my blog, and have made such nice comments. I Hope you all have a nice day. 3d image by Nicole
It's raining today, and and according to the weather forecast it's supposed to rain for a couple more days...I guess it's a good day to make cards!

This is how my favorite sitting place looked in the winter

This is how it looks now and where I will be sitting when the rain stops...
