Trees

 I made this card for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  The challenge was to have trees on our cards.  This is a stamp from Our Daily Bread  Designs.  It is meant to be a graduation stamp ..but I think it makes a nice background for a sympathy card.

I'm still working on my Christmas cards.  I'm almost done, but till I get them in the mail.  They will be received late.  I hope I do better next year.

Birthday card for a friend

 I made a birthday card for a friend using a rubber stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs  (now known as Divinity Designs)

Again, my hubby colored the image for me.  I added a bow and a sticker for the Sentiment.

I never did post a follow up about my grandson.  I can now breath more comfortably again.  He is fine.  The storm that they predicted was downsized when it came ashore.  

I have the feeling (considering where is base is)  that he may have to get used to storms.  They get a lot of them in the area where he is stationed.  (Grandmom may not get used to it!  Smile.  I am a big worrier!

Splitcoasst Christmas Challenge

 I made this card for the Christmas card challenge at Split Coast stampers.  For our February card...The challenge is to make a Christmas card with a candle (s) on the card.

It was a challenge for me...because, even though, I feel like I havea oodles of stamps...I could not find one stamp that would fit the challenge.  

This candle die is from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I used paper behind the window from Stampin' Up...My sentiment was cut using a die from Penny Black,  my Designer paper background was from American crafts, and my Windows shutters are from Kaisercraft...I used stickles for my candle flame.

Second Birthday Card

This is another birthday card I made for my sister to give to her friend.
 I wanted to give her a choice.  She did say that her friend has a great sense of humor.

This card idea was my husband's.  When I told him I wanted to try and make a book card for her but I wasn't sure of a title...

Gone with the Wind came to him.  When the book card didn't work.  I made two of those card folds that are at Split coast stampers tutorial and after many tries I got them to work.... BUT, not this time...after three tries I gave up.  I find it to be my my most difficult fold to do

So It's just a regualr card which hopefully, My sister's friend will get the idea of this card.  I showed the card to my brother who is 20 years younger than I am...and he didn't get it.

He said he never saw the Carol Burnett skit where she plays Scarlett O'Hara and takes the drapes off the window to make a dress, only she leaves the curtain rod in the dress.

I well remember that scene, I laugh everytime I see it.

Hopefully she saw the skit, and thinks the card is funny.

Since I'm not a spring chicken myself, I don't think she will be offended by me making this card...  (I hope not, anyway.)

Another Christmas card

 Still working on my Christmas cards.  This one is a "cheater" card...

The bow on the top of the ornament was saved many years ago from a card I received.

I recyled it to use on this card.  The ornamnet was cut from a die from Spell binders..

The lace trim on the bottom is an Our daily bread die.  the sentiment was stamped with a stamp from Stampin' Up.  The background was done using an embossing folder.

More Brightly gleaming cards

 I'm pretty sure anyone looking at my blog on a regular basis (Thank you so much for looking )  Might be tired of seeing all the cards I post using this designer paper.  As I said before, I'm trying to use it all up and I am definitely coming to an end to this Stampin' Up paper.  I honestly think that it is one of my favorite designer paper sets that I have purchased from Stampin' Up.  I purchased the paper last year and made some cards last year and now this year.  I think I may have made way over  50 cards using it.  

The card above was so difficult to take a picture.  I always struggle when I used reflective paper.  When this happens I sometime to outside to take a pic.  It was raining yesterday so that was not an option.

Besides using my favorite designer paper for this card...I used a Spellbinder die for the window.  The die is called stained glass.  I used vellum for the background of the window die and fussy cute some paper for the windows and used another die for the candles in the window (Daily bread designs die)

Today, I can finally start to address cards.

40th Birthday card

Anyone who has been on my blog before would know how much I like to try fancy fold cards.  I think the above card is called a double z card.  I found the instructions for the card on Pinterest.
It's the first time I tried this one.  I know I want to try another one...so this might help to inspire me to keep on making cards.

Sympathy card

I needed to make a sympathy card.  I grabbed a stamp that I have from Our Daily Bread Designs to make the background.  I covered over the image with velum.  I heat embossed a sentiment on top of the velum.  Would you believe that after I made this card I could not find the stamp?  It walked off my table.  I looked everywhere for it.  Places I often find lost stamps are like under my score Pal, or stuck to cardstock, or somewhere on the floor, etc.  Hopefully it will walk back to my table sometime.  I definitely like using the acrylic and vinyl stamp the best.  Easier to store the stamps, etc.
But I have to say, it was rare when I lost a wood block stamp.  smile.

Inchies Card

I made this inchies card using scraps from my designer paper...I punched out the square tiles using Two punches...One from EK success, and the other one from paper shapers.
I die cut the hello sentiment Using a die from Our Daily Bread Designs.  Added a ribbon

Inlay Card

I made this card using a tweezers to inlay the tiny pieces inside  the teapot.
I die cut out the Serendipity Teapot and put it on Sticker paper first for the pieces to adhere inside the pot.
I used an Our Daily Bread die to cut out the word Hello.  Added lace and a ribbon. My card base is made with more of my Hot of the press Designer paper (Charming)

I am so disappointed in the way my card photographed.  I made several attempts and could not get the colors to look right.  I used gold, red and green mirror paper to cut out my candle die...
I also used gold and red mirror paper to make a frame around my candle.  and added a ribbon.
My sentiment is a rub on.

Card for my Mother's friend!

This card is for a lady that had been my Mother's friend for over 60 years.  I think she misses my Mother almost as much as I do.  She did so much for my Mother, and I always try to make a special card for her each year.  She loves The Victorian look, so that's what I always try to achieve with my cards.

I again made a Twist and Pop card (this makes Number 7)
I used Paper Wishes Designer paper for my background.  I stamped my lady images using stamps from Grapic 45 and Rubbernecker stamps.  I die cut my lace using a die from Our Daily bread and my oval lace die is from MFTstamps (die-namics)  My sentiment was stamped with a stamp from Stampendous!  I paper pieced my stamped images.

Comfort Card

I made this card using a stamp from Our Daily Bread Designs.  It's meant to be a stamp mainly for a graduation card (and, in fact, I did make a graduation card using this stamp).  I also thought it would a good image to use for a Sympathy/and or Comfort card too.  Fortunately, I don't need to use one, at the moment, but I do like to keep some of these cards on hand.

Twofer Card Challenge #1

 I finally made some cards to post in Darnell's first Twofer Card Challenge...
This was a challenge for me, I don't duplicate cards too often (even at Christmas)
I really like the idea though, it makes me think outside the box, and gives me the opportunity to think of more ways I can use the same die or stamp and I'm so happy Darnell came up with this idea.

Speaking of feathers, I was thrilled to see that the above card made the "Favorites" thread at
Split Coast Stampers...

One of the things mentioned about this card was how much they liked my background paper
and how I used the twine to embellish my card.

The paper is a digi...I found it at one of my card magazines...(don't remember which one)
I liked it so much and I knew it would be a great background for my feathers.
However, my printer was giving me fits and kept printing lines across my paper where I
did not want them.  After several tries using the printer cleaner function.  I gave up at the time
and just used the paper anyway and tried to think of a way I could hide the lines that
I did not want to show...and the twine was my solution.

I'm only mentioning this because it made me think of Darnell's April fool challenge she had
where you were to show the cards that were made from boo boo's...well here is another one..
smile.

Happy Thanksgiving

Hope my USA friends are having a very special Thanksgiving.

Our Thanksgiving was very special we spent it with our daughter who cooked us a very special meal.
I hate to admit this but my daughter is a much better cook than I am.  She even volunteered to cook our meal today...even though it was her Birthday!

I didn't give her a cake, but on this card my little charm in the middle of the card is a birthday cake...and I know you can't see it that well...but it does read Happy birthday on it.

I made the card using a quilt die made by Our Daily Bread Designs.  Some of background paper also came from Our Daily Bread Designs.

I think the thing I was most thankful for today, was spending time with our daughter.
Especially since it was also her birthday.  She is such a blessing to us.

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving to my USA friends.

I have NOT been making too many cards lately, but I did need to make some sympathy cards...

It seems I'm a bit out of practice so I tried to make some quick and simple cards...

Enjoy your day...Jim and I will not be having our "turkey" dinner today.  It will be put on hold till tomorrow.  We are both feeling like chicken soup would be more appropriate  today since we are both really feeling out of sorts with bad colds.  Yes, we share everything!

Birthday Card for a Friend

 I Made the above card for a friend's birthday, and along with the card I'm giving her the above bracelet.
The Stamp I used is from Our Daily Bread Designs.  I colored the dress with copics.

It's hard for me to believe that it's been four months since I have posted to my blog.  (I almost forgot how to do it...smile)

I also think that this is the longest I have gone without creating a card in over 10 years.  And, yes, I almost forgot how to make a card...   As you can see by the above bracelets that I made...I have doing more Jewelry making than cards.

I wish I could say that I have been absent because I went on a fabulous vacation some where...NOT!  In fact, Jim and I did not get away for even ONE DAY!  Hopefully, that will change soon.

Jim and I have both been having some medical issues, but things seem to be going better, so hopefully, I will be posting more and be able to get around and visit blogs....

Hope everyone has had a wonderful summer...

Masculine cards

See Below for my card for the Our Daily Breads Design Challenge...

 Masculine cards are always difficult for me to make.  The card in my last post had lace, ribbons, pearls, etc on it.  It's more my style...

So I went looking for some inspiration to make a masculine card and I found this card on the Split Coast Stampers site...( a card made by Hejanderson... Hope the link works

PS.  I glued my second card crooked.  I started to reach for my "Unglue" when I remembered the hint to try and reheat it with a glue gun.  I tried that first and it worked!  I could take my crooked piece off and just reglue it and put it down straight on my second try.
