Cherie's Birthday Party 2016 Version.

I think one of my favorite posts is when I posted the events on Cherie's birthday back in 2014. I know that many of you who follow my blog have already read this post.

http://ribbonchallenged.blogspot.com/2014/09/to-everything-there-is-season.html

It's all about the restaurant we went to that I misnamed as the Squirrel  something place?
Yes, I still have NOT lived that down.  Cherie (my weekly crafting buddy and friend for over 25+ years had made sure I don't forget by sending an almost weekly pic of a squirrel via Pinterest!

Well, I wanted the fun to continue this year.
This is the present that I gave her for her birthday this year

Notice he is holding a pack of beads...smile
These were the party favors.  I used them for Nut cups.  I found the squirrels on Martha Stewart...doing a search for free printables.
The above pic is one of the pics I took at the Bed and Breakfast Jim and I stayed at on his birthday.  We were there for only ONE day!  (which wasn't enough time...needless to say)  The place was awesome.  This was one of our favorite views.  I sat on the porch at this place for two hours looking at this view while I was doing my crafting.  I could have sat there for a whole day!
The potted plant was one of the first things I saw when I walked into our room at the Bed and Breakfast.  I just couldn't resist!  I had to put that squirrel on top of the tree.
If you didn't read the post from 2014...Cherie had a squirrel come into her house and plant itself up on top of her potted plant.  They had to take the squirrel still sitting on top of her
tree outside to get rid of it.
Well, as you can see...It ended up being her Birthday card for this year.  I thought that this card would put a smile on her face.   What I didn't expect, is when she opened the card she laughed so hard that she had tears running down her face, and literally couldn't stop laughing.  I guess she liked the card!  smile!!!    Boy, am I ever going to be in trouble on my birthday!  I'm sure she will find a way to get back at me!
This is the card that I made for my Jim for his birthday.  I wanted to make a card that would represent our stay at the Bed and Breakfast.
It made my day, to know that it made Weekly favorite this week.

Twisted Sister Challenge at Splitcoast Stampers TSC0802

I made the above card for this week's Twisted Sister Challenge at Split Coast Stampers Website...
Anyone can enter this challenge at Split Coast...http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/
No prizes for this challenge.  Just lots of fun and inspiration.  The key words for this challenge is TSC0802

It was my turn to give the challenge for this week and this is my challenge.

For the challenge Use a stamp you haven't used before...but it must be an OLD one...not a brand new one...OR, use Designer paper, embellishments, etc. that you have been hoarding for a long time...
In other words...use something OLD on your card...to help clean out your craft room and keep you from shopping...

Just tell us in the description what OLD product or products you are now dusting off to use.

I used several OLD things on my card.  The stamp set I used, which is probably the very first stamp set I ever purchased, is called "Garden Silhouettes"  The stamp set is from 2007, but I probably didn't start stamping with it till a few years later...because I know I have only been stamping for about 5 years now.  Anyone else do that,  Go to a stamp show buy stamps and then not use the stamps or as in my case,  Not use the stamps for years?

If you have been following my blog, you know that I have challenged myself to use OLD stuff.
Last month, I used a lot of the 3d sheets that I printed from years ago and never used.  I used a lot of those and still have more to go.  This month, I want to start using stickers that I have collected through the years and are still sitting unused in a big box in my craft room.  It's the fault of those 40 and 50 perfect off stickers sales...smile.

My card not only uses an Old stamp but a sticker I purchased years ago.  It's a pretty sticker sheet with lots of flowers on it, but I wasn't sure how to use it.  Since it's a Penny Black Sticker sheet I decided to go on the Penny Black Website to see if they gave any ideas on how to use them.
And this is what I found at the Penny Black Blog...

I found a great video tutorial on ideas to use their stickers...

I backed my sticker with card stock as they suggested in the video, and I also sponged my background.  Great idea...I was trying to find a background to match my sticker and was unable to find one so my sticker sheet just sat unused.  (I used Tim Holtz distress Inks) On my background I also used Versamark to stamp my stampin' Up Stamp "Garden Silhouettes" and then I heat embossed the flowers with white embossing powder.  I also added a very OLD ribbon from my stash.

It's a cloudy and on and off rainy day here where I live but it feels cool.  So I will delight in it today.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Happy New Year

My SU demo sent me a card similar to this one last year.  I so liked her card that I had to try and case it.  Of course, hers looked better, but I still like the way this turned out.
She used Stamping up stamps for her card, I used Rubber Stampede, and Posh Impressions for my trees, and A SweetNSassy stamp for my sentiment.  I used a spellbinder oval die, and Versamark for my white and silver embossing powder.  I used Tim Holtz, broken China distress ink to sponge my background, added a Stamping Up ribbon and dimensionals to pop up my tree.

Thanks for stopping by...

Wildflowers, Sweet N Sassy

I made this card using a Tutorial from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps...

http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/forums/tutorials-f366/tuesday-tutorial-4-1-31-12-stamping-silhouette-images-t547386.html

I'm still trying out some of my new purchases from my visit to my favorite craft store this week--I purchased the Wildflowers stamp made by Sweet 'n Sassy stamps, I used my Tim Holtz Distress inks to sponge the background behind the wildflowers. I added a doily cut out with my new Cheery Lynn die, and added pop dots, and ribbon. My designer paper is from Stampin'Up

Embossed Tree

This card was made for one of my crafting buddies as a thank you card for the crafting goodies she gave me as a present for Christmas. She helped to get me back into making cards...

The card was made with a Darice Embossing folder, and I sponged the tree with Tim Holtz distress inks, added a ribbon, a sentiment printed on acetate, and Stampin' Up designer paper.
