Mother's day card for my daughter

 All the Mothers that were in my life, are sadly no longer here...

I decided to make a Mother's day card for my daughter...

The cute dogie dies are from Impression Obsession Stamps.  The dies were a Christmas present to me from my crafting buddy, Kathi.  They are NBUS, because this is the first time that I have used them.  My daughter's dog, Trixie, is like my daughters's baby.  She's my grand puppy and I'm kind of crazy over her too.  So I'm going to make the inside of this card as if it's coming from Trixie

 Here's a pic of Trixie in her raincoat.  I think she looks so adorable, but I don't think she feels the same way about the raincoat...smile.

A Mommy and Me pic taken a long time ago of me and my lovely daughter.  She doesn't look very happy in her pic either.  I use an over head light to take my pics so that's the reflection on her face.

Card made for a friend...

I can't believe that another month has zipped by...

I made this card for a friend of mine named, Iris...

 The card was made using a Penny Black (Slapstick/Cling) stamp
I stamped the image with Versamark, and then Heat embossed with white embossing powder
And since I stamped white on white...(kind of hard to see...)
I then used a magnifier 
To color the image with copics...
I added gold embossing powder for the center of the flower.
added a ribbon, and used Stamping Up designer paper for the background!

Today is my grandson's birthday...

 I can't believe that it has been more than 20 years or so since I took the above picture of him.
It's my all time favorite pic...and he is still a big baseball fan!  Smile

I found the above shirt in my cedar chest, and I want to show it to my grandson
I'm not sure if he ever saw this or not...

But this is how my daughter and son-in-law chose to tell me about that big upcoming
event in my life.  If you look at the date...you will see that my grandson arrived a bit early...

My daughter used fabric paint to make this...and put it in a box for me to
open on Christmas eve.   And yes, I wore the shirt!!!!   
(It certainly would NOT fit me anymore...smile...

Children are the rainbow of life...
Grandchildren are the POT of GOLD!

This is the first card that I have made in over two months.

It’s been so long that I almost feel like a “newbie” with both card making

And posting on my blog…

I’ve had several health issues to deal with these last couple of weeks.

I won’t bore you with the particulars,  But all has turned out quite well.

(Better than the doctors expected!) 

I have really found out how wonderful and supportive the blogging

Community is.  Thanks to all of you who had encouraged and supported

Me with the lovely cards and the of sending good thoughts and prayers my way.

The Prayers worked!  Thank you so much…and it is so appreciated!

I was also kept busy these last couple of weeks helping my granddaughter

To plan a “surprise” party for my daughter.  The party did NOT turn out

To be a “surprise” though….I tried to warn my granddaughter that my

Daughter is a difficult one to surprise…smile.   But I think it all went well

Anyway.

 This was one of the gifts I gave to her...
Take my word for it.  the fruit was delicious!  My daughter is allergic to flowers, so I
thought a bouquet would work instead.

We did a "This is your Life!" party, and asked guests to bring some pics of my daughter
to share...

I shared one of my favorite pics.  (Obviously taken a long time ago)

I was happy when my daughter remembered not only where the photo was taken

But the day the photo was taken.  Obviously, it was a happy day for her too.  We

This was taken of her when she was a teenager, and it’s hard for me to believe that

The teenager in this picture now is the mother of teenagers herself.

Grand Mom's in her craft room

Yesterday, I received a phone call from my Granddaughter telling me she was bored.  Could she come over and make cards with me?  Of course, Grand Mom's ready to craft anytime.

The cards above are the ones I made crafting with my granddaughter...
The first one is another Iris folding card...
The second one was made using the pennant stamp and die for the Christmas tree...and Stampin' Up Designer paper for the background.  Added a ribbon using my bow easy  which Carol...from "Our little Inspirations" showed me how to use...thank you, Carol, I am no longer  "Ribbon Challenged"

My granddaughter is the one who named my blog.  I was having trouble coming up with a name...and she had heard me say many times...after struggling to tie a bow..."I'm just ribbon challenged"!

I taught my granddaughter when she was 11 years of age how to do make Iris folding cards, and to this day it's still her favorite way to make cards...so that's why this "grandma" made some more Iris folding cards yesterday.

In regard to Iris Folded cards  (aka as Iris Twist at Split coast stampers)

I have had people say to me that they look too difficult to make.  I'm sure that anyone that has done this technique will tell you that it is a lot easier than it looks.   But to be honest, I do think it's a little bit time consuming.  But it's an inexpensive way to make cards...Especially if you use your left over scrapbook paper.  I usually use a thinner paper so the strips  fold easily ...but I also like the look of double sided paper (like Stampin' Up's paper...I just don't fold it...to me...it still looks nice layering it on the pattern.
In the past I have made cards also with tissue paper cut in strips...wrapping paper (although it may not be acid free...if that is important to you)  ribbon...ribbon is nice because you don't have to fold it.

I learned how to do Iris folding from the Circle of crafters web site...and my Iris folded tree above also came from that website...

I also found this link while blog hopping...I think this lady (Named Anne) gives one of the most detailed step by step instructions on how to do  Iris folding...

While Crafting with me one day...My granddaughter wrote me a poem

Grand mom's in her craft room
Doing her favorite thing.
She picked this as a hobby
because she can't dance or sing.

She loves to play with paper
Scissors, paste and glue.
The papers are in her favorite colors
Yellow, Pink, and Blue.

Making cards are her favorite
Of all the projects she does.
She tries to keep up with the latest styles
And keep up with all the latest buzz.

You will see her a lot in her craft room
Which is usually a mess.
She keeps telling me
She needs to learn how to do with less.

She makes cards a lot
Almost everyday
"It's very relaxing to me."
To me she would say.

She uses many different things
Buttons, beads, ribbon and lace
All the items somehow
Find their proper place...

Picture of My daughter's birthday flowers

So sorry, I have not been around blog land much lately. I haven't made too many cards. Just a few Christmas cards which I hope to post later, when I find time to take pictures and post them.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. My daughter cooked for us, and the meal was delicious. Of course, we had Turkey! She also made sweet potatoes, filling, green bean casserole, and homemade bread. For dessert we had Home made Carrot Cake made by my daughter, and Cheese cake made by my husband. Lucky me, I did NOT have to cook.

I have been absent for two reasons, One we are working on our house. Our ceilings needed repair from water damage, and we replaced some floors too. Plaster dirt, sawdust.., painting, .packing and unpacking have kept me quite busy, and also about a week ago, I injured my hand, so it's been mostly typing with one hand. Right now, I can type with both hands, but not for long, my hand still hurts.

We went to a surprise Birthday party over the weekend, and my sister-in-law hired someone to draw pictures of the guests...this is what she did for us. It sort of does look like us, just hope my nose doesn't look that big! I don't know the name of the artist (I want to find out so I can give her credit) She did give me permission to post it on my blog...
