I posted an Iris folding card to my blog yesterday!  I had mentioned that it was a card I made about Eleven years ago.  I have been making Iris folding cards even longer than that.  In fact, I think it was one of the first card techniques I tried.  I have made dozens of cards using this technique.

I found out this weekend how rusty I am at some of my card making.  This card took me way too long to make.  I definitely need more practice again. 

 The card was made using a pattern from a book I purchased... "460 Iris folded Cards to make.  The complete Iris folding Compendium."  (so far, I think I've only about 20 card patterns that are in that book...smile)

I used Kaisercraft paper, and a die from Elizabeth crafts designs for my sentiment!

Still going down memory lane

This is more or less an experiment!  I was trying to see if I could post a card 
directly again...that I had posted 11 years ago on my blog.

This is one of the first Iris folding cards that I had posted on my blog.

And yes, Carol, of Our little Inspirations.  I remember the fun times we had doing Iris folding together.

I'm posting this card to inspire me to try and do another Iris folding card tonight.

Eleven Years ago...

Eleven Years ago...On January 14, 2009...
I started my blog...
I still can't believe  that much time has gone by.

My blog was going to be just  someplace where I posted a few pictures of my cards for some of my family and friends to see.

Never thought it would  still be around this long, or that I would have met (so to speak) so many friends on line. ( And In real life) by blogging (more about that later).

In the meantime this is the first card I posted...(Jan, 14, 2009)

I noticed that in 2009, I had posted on my blog 277 times!

Last year in 2019,  I had posted just 50 times on my blog.

Somewhere I had lost the zest for posting and being on my blog.

But,
This year I want to get that ZEST for my blog back again, and
start by trying to post more.

I think by looking back at some of my past posts and cards may help me to get my emthusiasm back again.  At least that is where I want to start.

My word of the year

 For several years now I have been picking a word for the year.
Some past words have really worked for me such as "Believe" and "Breathe"
I had also picked the word" Joy", and then the word "Focus"
The word Focus NEVER worked for me...I always seem to think of it as Unfocused,
Unclear, etc.  (The way I was feeling at the time...)

I was having trouble picking a word for this year...so I googled Word of the year,
and a website came up that would help you pick a word of the year by answering a few questions.
The word that came up after that was     BLOOM!
(It made me wonder if everyone would be given that word...smile)

I then found a website that offered some free printables like the one I have posted above.
(Forgot to write down the link)  I'll try to post the link later...
anyway, I like the positive words on the poster, and I had fun coloring all those "Blooms!"

Coloring the free printable was very relaxing and very inspirational.  So I decided to try and make my first BLOOM card

My card was made using the wreathe builder technique.
I used a stamp that came with a magazine I had purchased.

I colored my blooms with copics...
and my sentiment is a PSX stamp 
Stamped with Memento ink.

Anniversary cards

Now that I know that the Anniversary cards that I mailed out were received.  I can post them.

As usual my cards went out late.  No matter how hard I try to keep up with birthday's Anniversary cards, etc.  I seem to always be late.  At least all my Christmas cards arrived before Christmas this year.  (That was a big accomplishment for me!)

I had three Anniversary cards I needed to send out the end of  December.  I totally forgot.!  I guess I was too busy making Christmas cards.  

Both cards were made using a stamp set that came with the Cardmaking and Papercraft Magazine #194.  My pink swan card pretty much followed the example of the card that they displayed in
the magazine.  I usually try not to copy cards exactly, but I liked the design so much, and as I said before I don't SELL my cards so I try not to worry too much about that.

I used copics where I needed to color, and added dimensionals to pop up the swan images.

The Secret Garden

One of my new year resolutions was....that I would post more on my blog...

Here it is 12 days into the New Year and this is my first post...
Hopefully, I will  do better as the year goes on...

As I have said in a previous post I love to read.  (I'm addicted to reading)  and now I'm addicted to making cards using this fold.

My paper is from Graphic 45, (French Country)  I used a PSX stamp  (Yes, an oldie, but still a favorite of mine)  the  bird house die is from Impression Obsession.
