TLC275 Technique Challenge at split coast Stampers

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend. It was rather quiet here...but hot! No A/C yet! My husband has promised me he will get them in the windows soon...I sure hope so...It's sticky! (and it's only the end of May...

The card I'm posting was made for a Technique Challenge at Split Coast Stampers.
For this challenge, you are to make a TENT card. I like the look of the tent card, but I struggled making this card. (and please excuse my photography...My photography skills are not the best. I used a Stampin Up stamp for the roses,(abundant Joy) and colored pencils with a blender pen to color the roses and the ballerina. I added glitter, brads, and pearls to the lace.

Beauty

I found the beautiful image I used in making this card at the link below...http://magicmoonlightfreeimages.blogspot.com/2010/04/beauty_30.html

The image is under the "heading" on the web page as "beauty"
and I think she is beautiful.

Have a good weekend everyone...

Friendship

The first card is one I made a while ago, I don't ever remember posting it to my blog...
and the second one, is actually a pocket card...make a lot of those, they are nice to use to slip in a gift card or money in the inside pocket.

My Mother's book

The cover to my book I'm adding just a couple of pages from the book I had made for my Mother...

I wanted to add some more pages...but blogget is giving me a hard time
with adding these photos...so I might try again later.

My book was made as a birthday/Mother's day gift to my Mother
about 5 years ago...and one of the biggest sections of the book was devoted to my Mother and her gardening skills...
and that really goes along with today's post.

I received a call from my Mother's best friend today...and her news really brightened my day.
Not too long before my Mother passed away she made a special request for me to take a potted plant to her doctor.
I did as she asked, but I had no idea at the time, how much it would mean to her doctor. ( The plant was an orchid. My Mother had beautiful orchids growing on her sunporch. )

I had been to her doctor's office many times, in the exam room with her, and in the waiting room, but I had never been in her doctor's office. I didn't know he had a big picture window with other orchids on the window sill. My Mother's friend told me that my Mother's plant was the only one still blooming, and another doctor in the same building asked if he could take a picture of it. Now that picture is hanging on another doctor's waiting room. This would have made my Mother very happy.

I remember these being some of my Mother's favorite Movie actors in the Fifties

Of course, I had to put a picture of my daughter's wedding into my Mother's book

Mother's Memory Jar

I always tried to have a special gift for my Mother on Mother's day...most of the time it was something that was handmade. The two gifts that I'm posting today ....I think were two of her favorites.
I got the inspiration for the memory jar many years ago from a magazine, but I can't remember which one it was...I know there are several web sites and blogs that have memory jars on them.(sorry I forgot to look for links before I posted this...
This is the picture that I have posted at the top of my blog, I was asked if I could show the larger picture, and I said I would post it today. I still have the dress that I am wearing in the picture
My Memory jar is full of slips of paper that I just folded, I started to read them today and I had to stop, I get too weepy to read too many at a time...some of the examples are...
...I treasure the heart shaped locket you gave me...The one that belonged to Granny.
...Thank you for "helping" the tooth fairy to put money under my pillow...
Thank you for being my MOTHER.
I had to stop reading when I came to the third slip of paper.....
The year I made this memory jar and showed it to my crafting buddy, Cherie, she also made one that year for her Mother. She rolled all her slips of paper, and tied each one with a pretty ribbon. I wasn't quite that ambitious. I just folded slips of paper....smile...
I'm posting this today, because I thought it might give someone else an idea for Mother's day, it's a gift I don't think would take to long to make. Just takes a little time to write out the slips of paper.

Card for Featured Stamper Pat Smethers/ and a Birthday card given to me

Card made for Featured stamper at Split Coast Stampers, Pat Smethers, I didn't case any particular card in her Gallery...she has so many amazing cards.
http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=76845
I really like her Easel cards so I wanted to try and post one as a virtual card for her birthday.

Same card shown closed...I used a Lace template to made the card...Lace Number 28.
Added a ribbon, button, and stickers...

This is the card that my best friend, and weekly crafting buddy brought to my house last night. Isn't it pretty? Cherie knows that PINK is my favorite color...Cherie doesn't have a blog, but
she has a gallery here...

Cards and a new baby

I made this card for a dear Long time friend, who is going through a rough time right now...she's always been there to "lift" my spirts, and I hope this card will help "lift" hers. (she loved her Ballon ride that she had a few years ago.
The inside of my card...(Images from Penny)

If this looks like a "beginner" card, IT IS. It's because I'm a beginner when it comes to rubber stamping, and a beginner with trying to do backgrounds...and the card is for my grandson who just passed his driver's test...to we have a "beginner" at driving.
Image from Stampin UP

Made this card for my sister's birthday (can you tell she loves cats?

And this is my sister's brand new baby granddaughter, Hadley Marie. Isn't she a cutie? She's the first grandchild. And she is also the first baby that I have had a chance to hold in a long time.

For card challenges, MMPTP1, TLC271, CC268

I haven't finished posting all of my vacation pictures, but in the meantime, I wanted to post a card that I just posted at Split coast Stampers...
I entered the Technique Lovers' challenge where we were to emboss on Vellum.
I used a cuttlebug folder...Stylized Flowers, but I have also in the past embossed
vellum by hand with a lightbox, and stylus...I like that technique, and I like the
look of vellum.
I also tried to do Mother Mark's teapot challenge from last week...where we were supposed to add petals to our cards. I really enjoy doing the Tuesday Teapot challenge...so much fun,
I missed it last week because of being on vacation. I didn't have my supplies with me.

More pictures of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed at last week

More pictures of the Bed and Breakfast we stayed in last week...This is some pics of the beautiful back yard at the Inn...
In the background you can see the Blue Ridge Mountains.
More pictures to come, because I just realized that I forgot to take some of the pics off my camera...

I'm sorry that I have missing here for a while...It's because we just came back home today after a 6 day trip to Virginia. I am a very fortunate lady. I had the opportunity to stay at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast near the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia...(Could see them from the porch at the Inn) The Wonderful Inn keeper made me a special Birthday dinner and a very delicious chocolate chip cake for my birthday. (Do You think she somehow found out what a chocoholic I am?) I took lots and lots of pictures which I will share with you this week.

For now I want to share with you two of the birthday cards that I found in my mailbox when I came home from my trip....
