Our Anniversary, and Operation Write Home

My first card, Made with Stampin' Up's doily stamp, is one I made for Operation Write home,
My boat card, is a "quick" Card I made for my husband for our anniversary this week. The Stamp I used is from Stampin' Up. I purchased both stamps ages ago, and I finally managed to get them inked up this week.

Last Saturday, I attended a card making party, with several of my friends, It turned out to be a wonderful day, and I hope we get the opportunity to do it again...Nancy, who got the event together with some of her friends did a fabulous job. Thank you Nancy for allowing us to come. I traveled up to the event with my Thursday night stamping buddies, Cherie, and Kathi.
You can read more about the day by looking at Nancy's blog

I took my camera but I only took one pic that day...and Nancy gave me permission to post the pic.

These are just a few of the card kits that they had there for us to put together, the cards were so beautifully done. They had hoped to reach their goal of getting ready 500+ cards to send to Operation Write Home, and they not only managed to reach their goal, they went a bit over, with a total of 755 cards.
My day was made even better by seeing, Carol, Mary Anne, and Kathy, also at the event.

My Daughter's Anniversary Card

This is a "belated" Anniversary card for my daughter and son-in-law. I made the card for the dynamic Duo's challenge to use River Rock and Black. The link to the challenge can be found here . I like these color challenges because it is making me use color combo's that I may not have tried before...and this is one of those color combos that is new to me. I do like the way it turned out on my card...
My main image is a stamp from Inkadinkado, my designer paper is from Stampin' Up, I colored my white ribbon with River Rock Ink, I framed my image with the Spellbinder classic Oval (used Very Vanilla card stock , which I ran through my Big shot with a Swiss dots Embossing folder. I added brads and lace ribbon in the color of very vanilla. I almost forgot, I also embossed my image with Versamark and heat embossed with Black embossing powder.

Two Important Birthday's this week

No cards made this week, it's just been too busy. I do have something to celebrate, My oldest friend , who is also the friend that I have had the longest...(since we were both in sixth grade together) had a birthday this week, and I had the opportunity to visit her in the hospital on her birthday! No, it's not where she wanted to be on her birthday. But after her being in ICU for several days, I am so happy that she is still able to celebrate her birthday. She almost didn't celebrate this one. We share so many memories...The pic below, is us as teenagers...(I'm the right on the right---yes, I used to be thin...) Happy Birthday, Geri! And Here's too many, many more! Also, I celebrated my Mother's birthday, by taking a box of my greeting cards to the cancer center, where My Mother and I spent a lot of time together. I hated her having to go there and endure some of the painful treatments, but I never realized how much I would miss our time together there. We spent many hours chatting, and in one of those chats she asked me to take down a box of my greeting cards to the cancer center.
I wanted to somehow celebrate her birthday in a positive way and I remembered that I had made that promise to her, and this week I finally kept my promise. I just hope they liked the cards. Happy Birthday, Mom!
I wanted to water mark My Mother's photo, but couldn't figure out how to do it...So please forgive my blog name going accross the photo...this was one of my favorite pics of my Mother...
She was so beautiful...

Hope everyone is having a good week...
Many Blessings to you,
Jill

Not waiting till the last minute...

Anyone who knows me, knows what a procrastinator I am...smile. I Leave everything go till the last minute. I Even wait, every year, till the last minute to make Christmas cards. My two Thursday night Crafting buddies, have been working on their Christmas cards...so they have inspired me to start making some too.

Some of the images and papers I have used on these cards...I had for along time, so I'm not sure who they are made by.
