Another NBUS Challenge card

This is a birthday card that I made for a friend who loves anything with "Peacocks"!

This is the first time that I used that Peacock die that came with one of my crafting magazines...
I got the die a while ago...and It's about time that I used it.  I wasn't totally happy with my card...
but after all the glitter that I managed to get everywhere with this one little card...I decided not
to try again...smile.

It's been such a busy week that I didn't think I would get the time to enter the challenge...
However, I received a call tonight from my Mother's friend, about going to lunch tomorrow
to celebrate OUR birthdays.  My Mother's friend always treats us to lunch for our birthday...
(My Sister and I...) every year...Usually at the end of April because all three of us
celebrate our birthday the last week of April.  I thought I had more time to get my cards
done for the birthday luncheon...surprise, It's tomorrow instead.  So that meant I had to
quick throw a card together for my sister...(Already had my Mother's friend card finished
It's the one in my last post...(I also have the link to the card fold I used for these cards in
My last post.)

 This shows the little gifts (That I purchased) that I am giving to them...The lunch get together is NOT supposed to be about gifts...but I always have to come up with a little something anyway. (They're just note pads) My sister has a cat, and Carrie loves Pugs!

Speaking of NBUS,  I was able to go to a stamp show last week...and the above pic is a photo of the goodies that purchased at the show. ( and also some were purchased at Hobby Lobby after the show)  Look at all that NBUS.  Hopefully, soon it will all be used.

I know I have made many boo boos in the last year...but did not save the cards...In the TRASH they went.  
But I sort of had a boo boo On Thursday.  I was trying to get a card together for this week's Merry Monday Christmas Challenge.  I stamped an image that I wanted to use...but it did not turn out very well, and I did NOT have time to do another one right away...  So I cleaned the stamp and put it away.

The next day, on Friday, I went looking for the stamp that I was going to use for the card, but it was NO where to be found.  I even had my poor husband helping me to look...  on the floor, in my craft room, in the kitchen (I had cleaned it at the sink)  It had me a little upset because it was a NBUS stamp.  It's depressing to lose something...but even more so when it's the first time you used it.

Well, the happy news is that I found it...TODAY.  Too late for the Merry Monday Challenge, but so happy that I found it.  Where was it?  Stuck to the BOTTOM of a box in my craft room.

I have done this before.  I was sitting at my table crafting and could not find my acrylic stamp...Again, I looked all over the table, on the floor, etc.  Only to find it much later stuck to
the bottom of my score pal.

NBUS Challenge #10

 I made this card for Darnell's NBUS challenge #10.  I did not think I was going to make it in time to post it because I my first two tries for a card flopped!  (Put aside for me to try again later to fix the cards).    The link to the challenge can be found here...

 My second card also has NBUS on it.  The embellishments I purchased about a year ago.  They are from Kaisercraft.  The card is a "belated" card for my son-in-law.  His birthday was last week.  It's the first time I sent a card so late to him.  I wanted it to be a quick card so I would finally get it in the mail.  

MY Valentine card was made using NBUS heart stamps from Sweet N Sassy. I actually purchased the stamps Last Valentine's day and didn't get to use them till now.  

I embossed background using a heart embossing folder from Cuttlebug.

Thank you again, Darnell, for all the hard work you put into these challenges.  It always helps me to get rid of some of my NBUS stuff.

The Lovely, talented, Darnell gave some options for this challenge...one was to try to do a hidden word on our card.   Well, that option was a little beyond me...So instead I decided to just keep with the idea of making a word the focal point of my card.  I wasn't sure what word I should pick then my longtime crafting buddy, Cherie, sent me an email asking me if I had picked my word of the year yet?

Here it is one month into the new year and I still hadn't made a decision on even picking..."One Little Word."   So I went to Ali Edwards website to try and get some inspiration for my word.

I looked over the list at the site and narrowed it down to five possible choices.   I like to always have something kind of make the word pop out for me, so it's kind of a confirmation that is the word that I should choose.

I have mentioned before that I have been sick with a really bad cough and cold...My head has been so stuffed up that this past Monday I literally could not breathe!  I had a frightening few seconds (felt longer) that I literally could not catch my breath...  It was early morning, and my hubby was not awake yet.  All I could think is that he will come into the living room and find me on the floor, and wonder..."What on earth happened?'  (sorry to sound so melodramatic)  but that actually happened to me.

That definitely confirmed my word.  Obviously, I'm still here!  After much difficulty and wheezing...I caught my breath.

I think there's a message here for me to slow down and take the time to breathe.

NBUS Challenge Number 8

I have been SICK for almost a week now.  (My hubby started it this time)  He was sneezing and coughing more than a week ago...and, as I said before we share EVERYTHING.

I'm not sure if my card followed all the rules.  It's the best I could come up with considering how I am feeling right now.  I know I was supposed to use Kraft paper (which I did) and colored Pencils...which I did   (In fact it's my NBUS,  I purchased the colored pencils to use to color images for my one day vacation last September, and never opened the pack.  I Made jewelry instead.
I frankly, don't care if it's eligible or not for a prize, (with most of it being paper pieced and not all colored with pencils. I told Darnell a long time ago that I would enter her challenges with or without a prize.

I have entered everyone of the previous 7 challenges and I did NOT want to miss this one either.

How I made my card...

I got my supplies together
and then I rested on the couch for a while..

I stamped my images, and cut out my card stock
and then I went and rested on the couch for a while.

I also stamped some images that I could use to paper piece and then glued then on the card
and then I went and rested on the couch for a while.

I finished gluing my card...
and then rested on the couch for a while.

I then took a photograph
and cropped it and downloaded it to my computer...
And then went and rested on the couch for a while.

I'm finally posting it to my blog
and when I'm done I will go rest on the couch again.

If you think I'm kidding...ask my hubby...
That's how determined I was to get a card in Darnell's challenge.

NBUS #7

My NBUS item is my Butterfly stamps.  I purchased the stamps at a stamp show about 18 months ago and it's the first time it's been inked.

This is only about the third card that I have made in about four months...so I feel "rusty".  So thank you, Darnell for giving me the motivation to try and make a card again, and use my "Unused" craft supplies.

NBUS Challenge #6 My Third Entry

This is my Third Entry,  My NBUS on this card, is my Graphic 45 paper.  I really like Graphic 45 paper, but  (as Darnell would put it...she hoards...then changes it to cherishes...her Designer paper.
This is one that I do that too.  I collect it a little at a time, and then I don't want to cut it.

The Graphic 45 paper is from the Botanical Tea Collection.
I also added ribbon,  lace, and brads.  I cut out my center die with a Spellbinder die (Decorative Labels Eight)

The is actually going to be a Sympathy card that I'm giving to a neighbor who lost her roommate of over thirty years.  They have been our neighbors that long.  Cindy  (who lost her battle with cancer) Was the sweetest person, and nicest neighbor...  Always had a smile and a hello for us when she would see us.  She liked Victorian cards, and that's what I would always try to make for her for Christmas and her birthday.  I hope my above card has a Victorian look   (My sympathy greeting will go inside the card).

I remember her coming for dinner at our home, and she loved my hubby's cooking.
I remember the picnics we had together in our back yard.
I remember how much she liked to swing on our garden swing.  (I told her she could come into our

NBUS #6 Second card

The challenge is an "Anything goes" challenge,  You just have to use an item on your card that has Never been used before...Could be from a recent purchase...( or old, like mine Purchased a year ago)

My NBUS items on my card are my rubber stamps that came free with the "Quick Cards." Magazine that I purchased last March.  (About time I used them)  

I really enjoy these magazines they always help me with inspiration to get myself crafting again.

The magazine said "Quick"  My Quick card took me about three hours to do!  I told you I'm a Slow card maker.  Actually, this was my second try with this card, the first one ended up in the trash can.

I also used some Sweet n Sassy Stamps for my sentiment. (Companion words)

I sponged my background using Tim Holtz Distress Inks.   (Antique Linen, Worn Lipstick, and  Tattered Rose).

I cut out my sentiment using a Memory Box die   (Stitched Rectangles) I added some lace and a bow. I stamped my images using Memento Ink  (Gray Flannel)

Below, is something else that I have been doing lately.   Still working with beads.  The bracelet below was part of my Christmas gift from my long-time crafting buddy, Cherie. Cherie gave me All the beads I used making the bracelet.  Cherie not only gave me all the supplies I needed to make it.  She also sat with me three evenings to show me how to put these beads together.  (She is a very patient teacher!  Smile!  Withe me she would have to be)!

I still feel like I'm all thumbs making these, but I know that, in time, I will really enjoy making them.

(When I know more what I am doing).  

I must say, it brought back memories of my cross-stitching days...(when my thread would get all tangled up when I was making this bracelet).  Cherie, came to my rescue every time.  Thank you, Cherie.  What would I do without you?

I'm sorry that I have not been around much lately.  I just don't know where the time goes.  There always seems to be so much going on.

Also, I haven't been on the computer much lately due to all the pain in my shoulder.  Typing always makes it worse.  

This is Darnell's 6th NBUS challenge.  Wow!  I have entered all 5 of her other challenges, and I didn't want to miss this one.  (Pain or no pain...smile)  Darnell's challenge always gives me the
extra push I need to get back into crafting again.  Thank you, so much again, Darnell for doing these challenges.

My card above was made with a pre colored image from the Making cards Magazine.  I purchased this magazine back in September,   So It's about time I start working on using the free supplies that comes with these magazines.  This one had some pretty images to use to make cards.  Sometimes they come with rubber stamps, dies or pretty designer paper.

This is my second card for Darnell's NBUS Challenge.  The link to her great challenge can be found above.  My NBUS items is a 3d sheet that I had printed out last year and hadn't used yet to make a card.  Also (my other NBUS) acorn and leaf embellishments were given to me as a gift from my sister in law, ages ago so I could use them to decorate my cards.

I told about the day we celebrated my dear friend Cherie's birthday.

I mistakenly thought the name for the restaurant that we were meeting in was named Squirrel something?...  Wrong.  I was teased all day about that.  Then Cherie goes home after our day together and finds a squirrel in her house!

You know that they couldn't let me live that down....So on my birthday they each made me a birthday card with squirrels on the cards.

Cherie, also has been sending me (from time to time) Pics that she finds of squirrels on pinterest.

So, since her birthday is coming soon,  I naturally had to send her a card with a squirrel on it.

NBUS Challenge #5

 My Crafting Buddy, Kathi, just celebrated a birthday, and the card above is the one I made for her birthday.

I knew that Darnell said on her blog that she was going to have another NBUS challenge, so I thought I would try and make Kathi's card using something NBUS from my stash.  The stencil that I used in the above card I had won at the Dreamweaver Challenge blog ...LAST WINTER!  I thought that I was way overdue in getting it out and using it.  Darnell's challenge always encourages me to do so.

 Instead of making Kathi a cake for her birthday.  My other weekly Crafting buddy, Cherie.  Came up with the idea of making fruit tarts.  Let me tell you they were Delicious!

 My card above was made with Dreamweaver Stencil LL437.  To say that I struggle using embossing paste...is an understatement.  It only took me 6 tries to get a good image with my paste.
They say practice makes perfect!  It took me two days to get Kathi's card done, (because of all my flops with the embossing paste)   I was still working on my card when she was driving over to my house for craft night.  That was a really close call!  Didn't know I could glue a card together so fast.  (But I think she did like it).

I thought that this would be a quick 5 minute card to make   NOT!!!

My NBUS item is my stamp!  I purchased the set at a stamp show FOUR years ago, and I am finally getting around to using it.  I lost the topper to the package, but I think it said that stamp is made by Hampton Arts ?

My hubby colored her face with Copics for me...R11, R29, R00, R000, RV000, T5
I paper pieced her hat and dress using Designer paper from Grapic 45, (Botanical Tea Collection)
I cut out the image using a Spellbinder die   Nestabilities, Classic Ovals Large.
I added some Vellum to the background, lace, ribbon, brads, and a rose from my stash.

NBUS Card Challenge Number 4 My Second entry

 I've been trying to make more clean and simple cards.  Mainly because I thought that they would be quicker, and also  so I can spend less on postage.   However, this particular Clean and Simple card probably took me as long to make as some of my eight layer cards....smile.   I think my problem is that I have a difficult time making decisions.  I keep adding and taking away things.  

For Darnell's challenges (I so look forward to those...like so many other people)  The challenge is fun!  There is also so much eye candy with looking at all the great cards that people submit to the challenge.

  I usually try to use a NBUS item that has been in my craft room way too long to not be used.  This  card doesn't follow my rule, it's using some NBUS items that are brand new. 

I went to a stamp show yesterday.  (Had a blast!)  and purchased some new stamps and dies from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  The above card was made using a stamp called Happy, Happy, and a matching die set  (Happy Day dies)  I also used my new Memory Box dies  Stitched Rectangle Layers.

 The picture above is one of the pics I took at the Our Daily Bread Booth.  This is one of my favorite places to visit at the stamp show.  Would you believe I took just a couple of pictures and my batteries went dead?  So I don't have much else to show from the show.

This is my goodies that I purchased at the show.  I purchased Rubber stamps (Not that I really need any more...smile)  and some dies, envelopes, glue, peel offs, brads, paper napkins, (to try and make some cards with them) and some Gelatos to try. 

Hubby went with me, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day.  So glad he went with me, and I think he enjoyed the day too.  I could have stayed longer...but I thought the longer I would stay the more I would spend...smile.

This is Darnell's 3rd NBUS challenge...With the first challenge I think I only posted two cards

(and I was one of the winners!  Oh Happy Day!)   Last time I only posted one...but since you can post three cards ...and this one fits...I decided to add one more...to make this my third one.

I told Darnell that I would enter if there were no prizes and I meant it.  (But prizes are always nice...smile)  This is so nice and generous for Darnell to do this.  

It also gave me the incentive to honestly break out some things that have NOT been used before...

Another one for Darnell's NBUS Challenge

First I want to know if anyone can send me this for a present...TIME!!!

Now that I finally feel like making cards again...
I can't seem to find the time to do any crafting. 

My dear crafting friend came over and did some crafting with me, and helped to motivate me again.  She came to my home with lots of toys to share.  The above card which was made with one of her dies that was a NBUS die that she hadn't used, and of course,  it was a NBUS for me...so I used her die.  It's a Sizzix die and makes a very quick card, and I like the fact that I could use up some snippits of Designer paper (from Stampin' UP) to make the card.
