My daughter hosts an ornament party at her house every year, and this was the 13th Annual Ornament party. (You can tell it's been pretty popular...to have it so many years in a row) It's a lot of fun and we all so look forward to it. I'm posting some of the ornaments that I received at the party.

This is about the only thing I have done to prepare for Christmas. The fixing and remodeling taking place in our home right now, has taken up most of our time. At the present time, my entire bedroom ceiling has been removed, and I am sleeping on a recliner in my living room. Can't wait for the room to get finished. (Actually, almost the whole room has been gutted, even the paneling is coming down from the walls---I won't miss the dark paneling on my walls)

So sorry, I have not been around blog land much lately. I haven't made too many cards. Just a few Christmas cards which I hope to post later, when I find time to take pictures and post them.

I had a wonderful Thanksgiving yesterday. My daughter cooked for us, and the meal was delicious. Of course, we had Turkey! She also made sweet potatoes, filling, green bean casserole, and homemade bread. For dessert we had Home made Carrot Cake made by my daughter, and Cheese cake made by my husband. Lucky me, I did NOT have to cook.

I have been absent for two reasons, One we are working on our house. Our ceilings needed repair from water damage, and we replaced some floors too. Plaster dirt, sawdust.., painting, .packing and unpacking have kept me quite busy, and also about a week ago, I injured my hand, so it's been mostly typing with one hand. Right now, I can type with both hands, but not for long, my hand still hurts.

Afghans and Quilts

It was given as a gift to my Grandmother, and when she passed away, My Aunt
returned it to me.

The above afghan is made up of mostly double crochet. I had made an afghan very similar to this one, for a friend of mine, as a gift to her while she was going through Chemo. I made one for me out of the leftover yarn. I still think of my friend everytime I see this Afghan in my livingroom. I miss her very much.

Most of my crocheting has been made for gifts, made and kept very little for myself.

I have not had time to make a card lately, so I thought I would post some of my past crochet work, I don't think I ever posted these on my blog before.
I belong to a group at Yahoo for over 11 years, and we chit chat about a variety subjects. A favorite is our crafts, and each week we have a theme. This week's theme was Afghans and quilts. I have never made a quilt, but I have crocheted many afghans...Maybe 5 full size Afghans and over 20 baby afghans, but I never took pictures of those...(wish I had) I wanted to post a pic of the quilt that my daughter made for me, but I'll have to add that later. I can't find the pic of it right now.

Still trying to play catch up from the cards I made at stamp night July through September. Thank Staci (Stampin' Up demo) I always enjoy stamp night. Last month was even more special because it was held in my own home...All products for these cards are from Stampin' Up.

I made the cards, (put the cards together) but they were made using the sample cards my Stampin' Up rep gave us. The cards are made using all Stampin' Up products...

Just boxes

They're just boxes, but they are so fun and easy to make. I used the tutorial that I found on Split coast Stampers to make them.
I also made a bunch of cards at stamp night to fill them. Just have to find the time to take pictures of the cards. Hope to post them this weekend. Right now I need to get off the computer and get ready for a yard sale tomorrow.

a Card for Fall

My card was made with a Squigglefly image, Cottage Shelf, done by artist Deena Perreault.

My pumpkin was punched out with a punch by Ek Success, and my striped background paper is from Stampin up, I put a sheet of Vellum over it so my images would stand out more. I also used pop dots on my bottles to make them Pop out, and added button brads to my corners.

Laundry day

I should have sent this card off a few weeks ago, so It will lose some of its impact...but I think my grandson will still get a kick out of the card. When my grandson did his first load of laundry at school, he sent my daughter a picture of all his laundry washed and neatly folded (On his made bed) It was a proud moment for him...LOL. I thought it was cute, and, of course, I had to make this event into a card making moment. I found the little laundry clothes for the card, at Papercraft inspirations magazine...they have a lot cute free printables.

Remembering my Mother in law

The pin did not scan that well, it looks cuter in real life
I belong to a group at yahoo, and each week they have a theme day. This week, the theme was scarecrows. The theme made me remember the little lapel pin that my Mother-in-law made for herself. My sister-in-law asked me if I wanted it and then passed on to me. I treasure it. My Mother-in-law was an excellent seamstress, and taught me how to sew (I don't sew any more though)---I can't remember the last time I sewed. smile... she was also great with cross stitch and showed me how to do that too. I wish I could still do cross-stitch. (These grandmother eyes won't let me do it anymore) With all the cross-stitch I have done in the past, I still can't picture myself doing a project like she did. Tiny little stitches on this pin, and all those tiny beads.

I wanted to add that I noticed that this does look like a "Summer" porch. I know it's Autumn, smile. But this porch scene is very timely for me, because we just had our small deck, made over with adding a roof over top and screening it in. My porch may not look as elegant as the porch on this card, but it is just as comfy. We had our morning cup of coffee sitting out on the porch watching the birds. Oh, what a tough life we live...smile.

MMTPT163 Teapot challenge

I'm posting a card for not last week's teapot challenge, but the week before that. I am a bit behind in my posting...smile...Sorry.... Sorry, I have not been on my blog lately, or commenting on blogs, but it just has been so busy. (I think I've said that before...but it's true!!!) I hope to do better this coming week.

I've already put this card in the mail, so I don't remember all the details, I do know I used a Martha Stewart punch, punch around the page punch--eyelet lace. I used a Hero Arts rubber stamp, that I stamped with Versa Mark and heat embossed. added a bow, brad, and a Martha Stewart Butterfly.

Art Deco

It feels so good to be back making cards again. I had one of the longest dry spells that I have had for quite a while. Just could not get myself back to making cards. As anyone who had followed my blog knows....Making cards is one of my very favorite things to do! Smile!

I printed out this image so long ago, that I am not sure where I found it...but I finally got around to making a card with it. My Mother's best friend (they were friends for over 60 years) loves art Deco, so I made this card for her. Now I just have to invite her to dinner (a long overdo invitation that I have yet to fulfill, and I will give her this card...

Card from a friend

I can't believe that almost a month has gone by since I last posted on my blog. Where does the time go? When they say that time flies...well, I sure believe it now...smile. I received this beautiful card from a dear friend (and stamping buddy) Kathi, about two weeks ago, but I have NOT found the time to post it till now. Thank you Kathi, for this lovely card, and for being a dear friend.

I finally have made a couple of cards, will try to start posting them tomorrow. Hope everyone has a good weekend.

My card was made using Squigglefly image "Up a tree without a ladder" by artist Lynn Stansbery. My texture was made by using a cuttlebug embossing folder (Distressed Stripes)

My image was colored with copics by my husband YR000, E50,E17,c4,c5, E97,E31,R000, E40

I love the doily stamp used in this card...I have this stamp on order but did not get it yet... Can't wait till I get it...it reminds me of my many hours crocheting, and how I liked to do the pineapple pattern the most.

3d cards, Sympathy card

The above card was made from a 3d kit, I purchased last week at the CKC Scrapbook Convention that I attended ...I made this card to give to my step-brother as a sympathy card for the loss of his mother (My Stepmother) She had been in a nursing home for a long time and on Hospice for over a year. Even though we knew her time would be soon it still came as a shock to us. Please keep our family in prayer this week for the funeral...thank you...

This card and the card below this one were also made with 3d sheets that I purchased at the CKS Convention. I like to do rubber stamping, but I still think 3d cards,( also sometimes called paper tole cards)are my favorite. I switched to rubber stamped cards thinking my postage would be less...but even with stamped cards, I find myself making lots of layers, so I don't think I have saved that much on postage by rubber stamping instead....smile

My cards were both make using cuttlebug backgrounds, Stampin' Up, and October Afternoon Designer paper...added pop dots, lace, and ribbon.

I've been told that my handwriting is legible, so I wasn't intimidated to have to use my own handwriting, but I chose to try something different. I can't draw, but I think that almost anyone can do doodling...even me...smile... I first heard about Zentangles at Split Coast Stampers, when they had a Ways to Use in Challenge, and you were to make a card using Zentangles... It was Split Coast Challenge WT271. For learning about the technique they posted Zentangle.com to get ideas.
My image is called Susie with Heart and the Artist is Lynn Stansbery. My husband colored the image for me with copics, and I made a Zentangle frame around the image.
I chose this image because it reminded me of both my daughter and granddaughter growing up. I used to make dresses for my daughter with Smocking on it, and this dress almost looked like smocking. It also reminded me of a dress I made for my granddaughter that had pin tucks on the front of the dress...

Busy week...smile. For this week's challenge you are to use Kraft on your card. It can be
kraft cardstock (which is what I used) stamp your image on kraft...on use Kraft in some other way. The challenge can be found here I used very little Kraft on my card, just as a small frame around this beautiful image, and also for the tabs on the top of the card. Don't worry the card is not real...it's one of those fake ones that come in the mail advertisements LOL

Jake is a 13 year old boy who is having his 17th Surgery. Jake's Mother wanted Jake to receive some funny/Joke cards for him to read during his recovery. Doing this card was out of my comfort zone. I usually like to make frilly cards with flowers, lace, etc. But it was fun to make.
I just hope Jake likes it and it gives him a smile. Please add Jake to your prayers.
My image is a digi that I found in a magazine I recently purchased it gave permission to scan and duplicate for use. I made two copies of the digi and popped them up after coloring w/copics. I used come October afternoon designer paper for the background, added a brad and Wiggly eyes, and added a computer generated joke.
