TLC Challenge at Split Coast

The TLC challenge at Split Coast this week was to make a Tri Shutter Card.
It's been a while since I have entered that challenge and a while since I made a Tri Shutter card...so I wanted to give it a try.

The paper I used was from stampin' Up...Brightly Gleaming.

I used a die from Penny Black for my sentiment, and cut out my stars with Stampin' Up;s Stitched stars die.  My card was difficult to photograph because of  using miror paper.

paper Blooms Dahia fold

I made this card using my Paper Blooms designer paper.  I must be honest and tell you that I orginally threw this card into my paper trash bin.  Hubby saw me do it, and said to me "Why did you do that?"  I told him that I did NOT like the card, but he told me he did!  So I picked it back out of the paper trash bin and tried again.  I think I don't like the fact that the double sided paper I used did NOT have too much contrast.  I added the doily to hopefully give the card more interest, and tried again...
The doily made this card larger than an A2 card it's a 5 inches by 6 1/2 inches card.

I found my instructions fo the dahlia fold here...

https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/dahlia_fold/

I added a ribbon and a brad, my sentiment was made from a die by Elizabeth craft designs

Paper Blooms Center Fold card

Another card made using the Stampin' Up Designer paper...Paper Blooms. I have to admit that I am running out of ideas at the moment in ways to use the paper...so after I post a few more cards that I made using it..

I will start using other papers, etc.   Smile...

The card was made using a Sugar Nellie image, Lizzie,  I love these images.  My husband loved these too and he's the one that purchased the images.  (As far as I know they are no longer available to buy.)  I really like the way he colors them.

I also used a Sweet N Sassy die for the lace trim on the sides of the card, and I used the Pierced Blooms die for my flower, added a ribbon and a brad.

Two more quick cards

Two more quick cards make with one of my card making magazines...
Cardmaking and Papercraft issue 162

What I like most about making these cards besides the fact that they were quick ot make!
Was the fold that I used...I used this tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers site

I really like this tutorial.  I like to make square cards, or I guess I should say I like the look of square cards but I don't make them too often, because of the extra postage.  This card fold makes it easy to make a square card and not have to worry about the postage.

My Images are colored images that came out of the magazine.  I just added some ribbon.

CCEE2049 Wrapping Paper Challenge

I made this card for the CCEE Stampers blog where the last challenge  CCEE2049 (Yes I am late for this challenge) was to use wrapping paper to make a card.  I found the wrapping paper difficult to use.  I finally did apply the paper to double sided adhesive to make it easier to work with.  Since Our family has grown so much smaller and our grandchildren are grown ...they want gift cards or  Money (which is probably preferred) so I don't do as much gift buying.  So I don't have much wrapping paper.  This was the only paper that I had.

I made a center step card, and heat embossed a sentiment with gold embossing powder.  Sentiment is from Stampendous (Tis the Season)  I also used a die from Our Daily Bread designs for the lace border, and my snowflake embellishment is a die from spellbinder.  I added a ribbon and a brad.

Triple Fold Card

I made this card for a challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  It's their Falliday challenges.  This is my first time entering these challenges.  The first challenge is to make a card using the card fold....Triple Fold card!  I really liked this fold and I can see me using this fold a lot more in the future.

I used Stampin' Up designer paper for this card (Brightly Gleaming)   The color of this card should show up more like a green teal.  My background paper is called Pretty Peacock and it's such a pretty color.  I just wish my card color would show that color instead of blue.  (although I do like Blue)

Thank you for the prayers and good wishes for my daughter in my previous post.

I had an update from her on Monday after her doctor appointment (where they removed her stitches). She is doing so much better than the doctor expected her to be doing.  Instead of 4 weeks on crutches she only has to do 3 weeks, and he gave her permission to drive again...(only to work...she lives 5 blocks from her job)  Driving to work made her happy then she doesn't have to depend on other people picking her up for work and bringing her home.

I forgot to add to this post the link to where you can the triple Fold card.  As I said in a previous comment...  I love this fold and I plan to make another card using this fold today.

Autumn time

I was visiting Pauline's fabulous blog...and I noticed that with the card she made...

She used some Graphic 45 paper that I have.  I love what she did with hers.

Her work is fabulous... Here it is...

https://craftingwithcotnob.blogspot.com/2020/10/autumn-time.html

She made three cards using the Autumn time paper.  I made one card using lots of images...

to hopefully make it look like a collage page.  (In truth, I think my collage page got a bit too busy to suit me.  I could have made it look (maybe) less cluttered If I would have realized that I have a second sheet of this paper.  (I didn't realize that until after I made my card)

I made the card for my neighbor whose back yard meets up to my back yard.

She is a school teacher for over 20 years.  I asked her (with social distancing and by texting) how her school year was going so far...   After some hesitation...she said that this has been her most challenging year of teaching ever.   (I can only imagine)

Anyway, I wanted to make a card for her to let her know that I was thinking about her...

Puppy Card for a friend

I have a friend who is a big dog lover...(I guess that description fits a lot of us)
Even though we don't have a pet at this time.  I have my grand puppy, Trixie!
My friends dog is Goldie, and this sticker reminded me of her dog as a puppy.

This is another double Z card, and I added a dog house that I paper pieced.  I trid the wood look technique again, by dry embossing my hand cut out dog house,  Then scored it and sponged it with distress inks!  Used a punch to punch out the doorway, and die cut a tree.

Beautiful day in our area today.  We got to eat at a restuarant who has tables set outside their cafe.
We considered our yummy breakfast as our delayed Anniversaary dinner.  Then we went to my favorite book store...  A used book store...where I always buy too many books.
and we followed that by going to my nephews candy store and we both bought some candy.

Card for my Neighbor

I made this card for my neighbot who was one of my crafting buddies.  I so miss crafting with her!

This card is supposed to be her and her hubby.  They go walking almost every day.  If it's a light rain they are out walking, and if it's hot they are out walking with the umbrellas (they're goft umbrellas)
Jim I noticed them last year using the umbrellas on hot days, and we thought it was a great idea so now we sometimes do that too.  Yes, we get strange looks...but I must admit, it does help keep the sun's hot rays off of us when we walk.  Our neighbors are much younger then we are...and I thought it the young people could do that...It's probably even better that us OLD people do that.

My card was made using a stamp from Stampin Up  (From our house to yours)and a stamp from Sweet N Sassy  I made the card using the Double Z Fold!

40th Birthday card

Anyone who has been on my blog before would know how much I like to try fancy fold cards.  I think the above card is called a double z card.  I found the instructions for the card on Pinterest.
It's the first time I tried this one.  I know I want to try another one...so this might help to inspire me to keep on making cards.

My car stamp is from "our Daily Bread Designs"

Easel card

This card was made for a lady who was my Mother's best friend for over 60 years.
She made a promise to my Mother that she would take me and (My step sister)
for lunch every year on our birthday  (Our birthdays are only a week apart)
and for Christmas.

She has kept that promise to my Mother and me...which I am so grateful.
Not only do we get treated to a nice lunch each year.  We are also entertained by this wonderful lady that had been so special to my Mother.

Carrie loves pugs  (No she does not have one)  She has lots of cats instead!  Smile
but I think she would like to have one.

She was a little late taking us out to lunch this year because she lost her husband a few months ago, and, obviously, she had a lot to do after he passed away.
But she still found time for us.

My precolored image is from Hunkydory...
I cute out the sentiment with a dies from Sizzix (Tim Holtz  Thinlits)  I just added a brad.

The Secret Garden

One of my new year resolutions was....that I would post more on my blog...

Here it is 12 days into the New Year and this is my first post...
Hopefully, I will  do better as the year goes on...

This is a pop up book card...I found the instructions to make this card here...
https://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/popupbookcard/

As I have said in a previous post I love to read.  (I'm addicted to reading)  and now I'm addicted to making cards using this fold.

My paper is from Graphic 45, (French Country)  I used a PSX stamp  (Yes, an oldie, but still a favorite of mine)  the  bird house die is from Impression Obsession.

Pop up Book Card

The above card is my first try at doing at pop up Book card.  I found the tutorial to make this card  here

I LOVE to read... In four years I have read over 300 books.  I buy most of my books at used book stores.  I am on a first name basis with one of  the book store owners, and a friend on Facebook with her.
So I wanted to make her a special card which I hope to give her tomorrow at her book store.
I don't think she has the link to my blog, so I don't think she will see this ahead of time.

I wanted to make her a card with  a BOOK theme, and use a book that is one of my favorite Christmas books.  The book was a gift to me from my sister-in-law, and it is author signed.

I wasn't quite sure how I was going to do the cover and I was running out of time to get my card done (so I could give it to her before Christmas) so I just scanned part of the front cover of the book.  Since it's NOT a card I'm going to sell, I hope I did not break any copyrite rules.  I'm always so aware of that...

Hope everyone is pretty much ready for Christmas...I'm almost there...

Blessings,
Jill
