NBUS Challenge number 4 My third Card

I made this card for Darnell's NBUS Challenge.  This is Darnell's 4th Challenge, and I have entered every one of her Challenges, (In fact, I was one of the fortunate ones to win a prize in her first challenge).   This is my third entry for this challenge, and it's the first time that I have entered 3 cards in her challenge.  Usually it was one or two.

to use our NBUS.   I know I needed the push to get out some of my items in my craft room

that had not been used before.  (Like this 4 year old stamp)

I thought that this would be a quick 5 minute card to make   NOT!!!

My NBUS item is my stamp!  I purchased the set at a stamp show FOUR years ago, and I am finally getting around to using it.  I lost the topper to the package, but I think it said that stamp is made by Hampton Arts ?

My hubby colored her face with Copics for me...R11, R29, R00, R000, RV000, T5
I paper pieced her hat and dress using Designer paper from Grapic 45, (Botanical Tea Collection)
I cut out the image using a Spellbinder die   Nestabilities, Classic Ovals Large.
I added some Vellum to the background, lace, ribbon, brads, and a rose from my stash.

I have had the privilege of meeting Carol in real life, and seeing her beautiful work in real life.  Her cards look fantastic and creative on line, but, believe me, they are even more so, when you see them in real life.

The sentiment is (on the outside of the card)   The fun never stops...

and on the inside I put the fun never stops when you are crafting!  So true...

I said in one of my  posts how I was addicted to making these side steps cards  (I think I have made about 20 of them in just the last few weeks).  They are my Therapy...

NBUS Card Challenge Number 4 My Second entry

 I've been trying to make more clean and simple cards.  Mainly because I thought that they would be quicker, and also  so I can spend less on postage.   However, this particular Clean and Simple card probably took me as long to make as some of my eight layer cards....smile.   I think my problem is that I have a difficult time making decisions.  I keep adding and taking away things.  

For Darnell's challenges (I so look forward to those...like so many other people)  The challenge is fun!  There is also so much eye candy with looking at all the great cards that people submit to the challenge.

  I usually try to use a NBUS item that has been in my craft room way too long to not be used.  This  card doesn't follow my rule, it's using some NBUS items that are brand new. 

I went to a stamp show yesterday.  (Had a blast!)  and purchased some new stamps and dies from Sweet 'N Sassy stamps.  The above card was made using a stamp called Happy, Happy, and a matching die set  (Happy Day dies)  I also used my new Memory Box dies  Stitched Rectangle Layers.

 The picture above is one of the pics I took at the Our Daily Bread Booth.  This is one of my favorite places to visit at the stamp show.  Would you believe I took just a couple of pictures and my batteries went dead?  So I don't have much else to show from the show.

This is my goodies that I purchased at the show.  I purchased Rubber stamps (Not that I really need any more...smile)  and some dies, envelopes, glue, peel offs, brads, paper napkins, (to try and make some cards with them) and some Gelatos to try. 

Hubby went with me, and I thoroughly enjoyed my day.  So glad he went with me, and I think he enjoyed the day too.  I could have stayed longer...but I thought the longer I would stay the more I would spend...smile.

It's Spring Fever at Serendipity stamps..

I made the above card for this month's Serendipity Challenge...Spring Fever...

I used the same Serendipity stamp in the fall to make a card for the fall challenge.  I, obviously, thought it could also work for the spring challenge.    I used versamark to stamp my verse, and heat embossed with Very fine black distress ink.  I also used two spellbinder dies...Marvelous Squares, and Scalloped Borders Two. My designer paper is from Graphic 45, and I added dimensionals to pop up my sentiment and and I added a ribbon.

I wish I also would have added glossy accents on the butterfly so I might do that before I sent the card.  The Serendipity Design team (who makes fabulous cards for inspiration) always adds an extra touch to their cards each month.  The extra for their last cards was adding glossy accents somewhere on their cards.  I really like using glossy accents (Or stickles on cards) but I almost always manage to forget that it's still wet, and somehow smudge it.  I'm also going to add a little bit of copics to my butterfly (aqua tinge on the wing tips...because I don't think my ribbon matches the butterfly as much as I would like it to.  Do you get the feeling that I am a perfectionist?  Well, I try to be anyway, but my cards rarely turn out to be perfect.

Card from craft night

For some reason this card looks so much darker here than it does in real life...

I made this card using a  Sweet'nSassy stamp (Happy Place)
I used my Stampin' Up Diagonal scoring board (for only the second time) or it would
have almost counted toward a NBUS item...  added a bow, and some stick on beads...
I did my sponging with Tim Holtz distress inks...

NBUS Challene number 4, and TWISTED Sister Challenge

I made the above card for two challenges.  
Darnell's Fourth NBUS  challenge.  Darnell, you continually amaze me.  I'm sure this challenge is a lot of work for you to do.  But I'm sure I speak for all of your followers when I say...we so appreciate you doing this challenge for us.  It certainly does encourage me to get out my Not before used items.

My NBUS item on the above card is the Hero Arts stamp  (Two Silhouette Woman)
My Border lace was made using a die from Our Daily Bread Designs (Beautiful Borders)
and I used the Stampin' Up Stamp (hello Doily.  I added stick on pearls and a ribbon.

First day of spring

It didn't seem like the first day of spring with the snow coming down most of the day.
But it made for a great day for crafting...

The first card was made using a 3d sheet that I purchased at a local scrapbook store, and a spellbinder die to make the frame.  (A2 Filigree Delight).  ribbon is from my stash.  I just added some brads, and dimensionals to pop up my image.

And, Of course, I made another side step card.  I think I have made about 19 of these in the last couple of weeks.  Obviously, I'm still addicted...smile  The images came from paperwishes.com   the card is going to a long time friend who, obviously, likes to sew and cross stitch.  I just added a ribbon, and sewed on some buttons.

Another Quilt card

I enjoyed making the recent quilt card that I made...so I wanted to give it a try again.
I used some designer paper from Graphic 45, an embossing folder from SU, and a die from our Daily Bread for the border (beautiful borders)  I could not find ribbon to match the pink on my card, so I used some embroidery floss to stitch in my border die.  Added a button and some peel offs.

My second card is, YES, Another side step card.  (it's my Therapy to make these cards)  I made this one for a long time friend who was my very first neighbor after Jim and I were married and rented our first place.  I  was so blessed to have this friend, who had a daughter my daughter's age at the time---one year old) move in next door to me.  She has definitely been a big part of my life's story.
images are from paper wishes.  The friend quote was from a piece of vellum in my stash, and the Blessings sentiment was stamped using a stamp form SweetNSassy stamps.  added a ribbon and stick on gems and butterfly.

Thank You card!

 My hubby posted on his blog  about how we received a very special surprise gift from one of our neighbors.  Janice from up the street (a Quilter) made us the cutest wall hanging with snowmen on it.  I wanted to make her a thank you card.  The above card is what I came up with to thank her.  I wanted it to have a snowman on it.  (even if SNOW is a word I don't want to hear too much right now.  Smile.

The card below this one is a card I received from Sylvia from Split Coast stampers.  I had posted it on my blog before.  I used (cased) her card to make mine.  Thank you Sylvia for the inspiration.

It's really snowing right now

It's still really snowing right now.  Looks like no end in sight!  It does mean I can spend more time in my craft room.  It also means when it finally stops that we will be shoveling lots of snow. ( Not looking forward to that!)  Jim shoveled the snow by himself yesterday and I know he was hurting, so I definitely need to give him a hand this time.

My card was made using a spellbinder die and weaving in the ribbon.  I don't think I will be making too many of these.  They are a bit time consuming...smile...

Trying to think "spring!"

It is still so cold in our area...that I am trying to do anything to keep warm, and think about spring.
I thought that making this card would help me to remember that spring WILL be here in a few weeks.
