Dreamweaver Challenge

I made the two above cards for this month's Dreamweaver challenge (which is about to end in a few hours after I post these...(nothing like waiting till the last moment...almost anyway)

The theme is "frilly" ...suggestions are to add ribbons, lace, buttons, charms, etc.

My first card uses heart stencil LL318, I used Dreamweaver Metallic copper embossing paste,   some designer paper from Graphic 45, added a charm and  ribbon.

For the second card I used Stencil LJ831. Designer paper by Graphic 45, and DCWV, added a ribbon and a strand of beads...I paste embossed with Dreamweaver white embossing paste, and then heat embossed with Gold embossing powder.

It's till very cold in my area...but the one thing good about it...it gives me more time to be in my craft room...

All you need is Love

I made this card for this month's Serendipity Challenge.  The theme for this month's challenge is "All you need is love.
My Owl is from Serendipity Stamps, and it was colored with copics by my hubby (Yes he didn't know he was coloring an owl for his own card)  the colors he used were
BV0000, BV23, BV34, Y32, YR000, YR20, YR21, YR24, YR27, YG11, E74, E77, E89 T6  and Copic Multi liner 0.05 pen
My sentiment is sticker and computer generated.  My background was made using a cuttlebug folder.
Distressed stripes.

Birthday Card for my Aunt

I made the first card as a birthday card for my Aunt.  Jim colored a tulip image for me with copics...(source unknown since it was printed years ago).  I made a frame for the image using a spellbinder die (A2 Filigree Delight) added some brads, pearls, dimensionals, and ribbon from my stash...

Children's cards

My dear crafting buddies made it to my house last week...at last!  We've all been hoping that we could finally do that.  It was cold outside, but they are troopers and came out in that cold wind. 
Sadly, it was even colder last night...so NO craft night.  However, last week, Kathi, came bearing gifts!  She cleaned out some things from her craft room, and shared some of it with Cherie and myself.  It was some craft things she had for a long time and they  had not motivated her to make anything with it.  Her designer paper did motivate me, though.  The above cards were made with pre-colored images from the Designer paper she brought to my house. It made the cards go together quite quickly.  Kathi had the paper for quite awhile and wasn't sure where it came from.  I just cut out the images, and added some ribbon, and computer generated sentiments.

And I apologize for showing you yet another side step card.  I'm sure that sooner or later I will get tired of making them, but, obviously, that hasn't happened yet.  smile.

More of my Hubby's Great Coloring

 The above card is another card that was wonderfully colored with copics by my hubby 
He used E19, E99, E41, BG72, YG17, G28, E57, Y11, YG67, YG61, YG09, G12, G14, G17, C1
Since he colored this image years ago...neither of us remember where the image is from.  I added a computer generated sentiment, and some twine and a charm.

I made this card for my sister-in-law and her hubby.  They moved away from us ...too far away...
They moved almost five years ago, and we have only seen them twice since...   They are so missed!
They keep promising us that they will be headed for our area soon...I sure hope so.   I don't blame them if they wait till after all the cold weather and snow is gone.  They are now living in a much warmer state then ours!

CAS.ology #133

The first card I made for my hubby..It's his Valentine card!

And I'm entering it in the Cas.ology Challenge.  I'm been following this neat challenge for a while now...but I believe it's the first time that I have entered this challenge.

Clean and Simple cards are very difficult for me to make.  One layer cards are almost impossible...(this would be one layer if I didn't paper piece it...smile) (so I came close)  My goal for this year is to learn how to do more CAS cards.

The stamp that I used is from Impression Obsession.  D13078 Couple small
from Dina Kowal dkdesigns.   I paper pieced the image.  

And the second card is yet another side step card that I made.  It did not photograph very well.  The colors are more of a soft ivory and pink.  I again, used a freebie sheet of paper that I found at

More quick cards

I made three cards today...but none of these are the card I originally started out making...smile

I was trying to make a card for a challenge...but it's till in the beginning stage...(after several attempts)  So I wouldn't feel like the time was a complete failure...I tried doing something else and fortunately  that something else...resulted in three more cards.

My first card was made using my Spellbinders scalloped borders die 2.  When I first bought this die...it sat in my drawer for a while...it kind of intimidated me...wasn't sure what to do with it or how to use it.  Now I'm glad I got over that fear...so far, I've used it 5 times and I'm sure it will be one of those dies that will be used a lot and become a favorite.

The second card is yet another Side step card.  I think this card fold is so much fun to embellish.  I used some more Paper wishes "freebie" papers to make this card, and a stamped bear image (unknown) that my hubby colored with copics.

The third card was made with my Sizzix framelit die....Card circle flip it's 2  Added a bow, sticker, and  die cut lace.

Stampin' Up BIGZ Lattice die

I was going through my craft room yesterday, trying to do some organizing and I was looking at all my NBUS supplies.  I found way too many unloved things.  My eyes went right to my Stampin' Up Lattice die, which I think I have only used one time, so I thought it was time to try a card with it again.  Near by was my Stampin' Up Vine Street embossing folder which I received as a Christmas present this year and it had NOT been used yet.  I also used my Spellbinder dies for the white lace trim.  It was purchased using my gift certificate that I won in Darnell's first NBUS Challenge.  If you don't know who Darnell is...You need to click on the NBUS logo on my side bar to see her terrific blog.  (as usual, I forgot to look up the link to insert here before I started my post...smile)
The  spellbinder die that I used is Scalloped borders two.  

This card will be going to a lady who was a friend of my Mother and lived at the 55 and older community that my Mother lived in. She sent me a Christmas card that I received this past Saturday.  (Now I don't feel so bad that my Christmas cards went out late...  smile).   It was so nice of her to think of us even with a late card.  She absolutely made our day with her card and note because she had moved and we didn't have her address to get in touch with her...so now we do.

Birthday card for my niece

My sister's Granddaughter will be celebrating a Fifth Birthday soon.  I thought since her birthday is close to Valentine's day, I would make it a Birthday/Valentine card.
My image is a PRE COLORED Mo Manning image from a hobby house craft sheet which I purchased at my local scrapbook store...(by Local, I mean an hour's drive from my home...LOL.

I think the card fold would be called a z fold.  I used two spellbinder dies to cut my ovals. Classic Ovals large, and Floral Ovals.  added a ribbon using Stampin' Up ribbon that I tied using my bow easy. The designer paper I used is from American Crafts.

This card made me think of some of my childhood birthday parties.  

One that first came to mind is one that my Mother had for me when I was about 9 years old.  I was trying to find some photos of it, but it will take more searching to find them.

My Mom tried to make the party real special.  She baked a special cake for me, invited my cousins,
and some neighborhood children.  She decorated for the party, and bought me a brand new really pretty dress, I can even remember the color.  Red!  She even put my hair up in curlers so my hair would look nice.

Now  here is the part that I didn't like.  MY HAIR WOULD NOT DRY IN TIME FOR THE PARTY!
So all of my party pictures are of me in my hair curlers.  Needless to say, I was a bit upset at the time.
Of course, Now I have to laugh about that day.  I give my Mother An A for effort...LOL.

Quick Valentine card

This card was quick to make because I used a 3d sheet for the tulips.  (the kind that you can punch out the pieces...(not have to fussy cut like you have to do with some)...   I used a spellbinder die for the background. (Decorative Labels Eight) and for my sentiment I used a stamp from Magenta.  I used memento ink, and added some brads.

Cards I don't like to make...

I Always have a difficult time making Sympathy cards...so this one took me a while to make...
It was made by Stamping  Stampin' Up's lovely as a tree stamp.  (borrowed from a friend) Embossed a background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, (Tiny Mosaic) sentiment die cut with a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. added a bow, peel offs, and brads.

Card made for my step-brother's widow...for the loss of her son, John (45 yrs old)
It's been less than three years since she loss her husband and now her son...

This card made me think of my Mother a lot today..because today  it's the Anniversary of her passing,  and it goes probably without saying...I still really miss her...

 While I was posting this card...I  was thinking about how her Step-Grandson has joined her and I can picture them in heaven chatting.  My Mother thought of my  Step-father's grandchildren as her grandchildren and so enjoyed their visits.

Addicted to this card fold

Okay, I admit, after having such a difficult time with this fold in the beginning...  (after my first card...ages ago with the card that went into the trash)  I now really do like this fold.  Just wish I would remember to take a side view of this card too.  (Easier to see the steps that way)

I also used an image that was stamped with a stamp borrowed from a friend.  I'm pretty sure the image is made with a Stampin' Up stamp, but I don't know the name of it.  Hubby colored it for me with copics.   The sentiment was stamped with a stamp from Northwoods rubber stamps.

Another Side Step card for Two challenges...

I made this card for two challenges...The twisted Sister Challenge at Split coast Stampers

and for the Butterfly Challenge...

It's my turn this week for the Twisted Sister Challenge to give the challenge, and my challenge this time is to learn a new technique. (TSC0206)

 I enjoy seeing so many neat cards done with this technique on Split coast.  My Stampin' Up Demo, Stacie,  showed how to do this in a class one week...Unfortunately, I wasn't able to attend that class, but I did see the card that my crafting friend, Cherie made.  I tried to do one on my own but it was a total failure, so I just put that card in the trash and forgot about it for awhile.  Since this year one of my resolutions is to try new things...I tried it again.   Now I am hooked on this fold, so far I have made three cards using it.

Another Valentine's Card

I made this card using the side step technique...got the instructions from Split coast Stampers...Forgot to look up the link...Will try to add the link at the bottom of this post.

I also used some printables from Paper wishes to decorate some Journal pages that I am working on.

I call this my journal project

I'm working on a journal as a gift for my granddaughter for Christmas next year.

I'm working on it a page at a time, and eventually, I will glue all the pages in

a scrapbook for her.  She rarely has read my blog...(I guess it's too boring for

a teenager...smile.)  Plus she's a very busy young lady with going to community

college and working a job.

I just hope she doesn't choose to read it now...It will spoil the project...

If she does...she'll only see part of it...smile.

 This will be one of my first pages in the Journal/scrapbook...A place where she can write down some of her goals.  (besides some embellishments from paper wishes...I used some stickers that she had given to me a long time ago.

 This Journal page is where she can record her favorite quote...(grandma loves quotes!)  (I think anyone reading my blog knows that by now.  smile)

The idea for this journal page came from a pin I saw on pinterest...from the 365 days journal project

My grandmother was my Original inspiration.  She loved to sew and crochet, and I used To cut out some of her quilt squares for her.  (back then she Used patterns cut from cereal boxes, and cardboard).

She would even let me sew on her machine, until at the age Of about 10 when I sewed a needle through my finger.  (she no

Then there was  my Mother-in-law who was one of the most creative

People I have ever met; She Taught me how to sew, crochet,

Cross-stitch, smock, etc.  My mother-in-law could even

Make her own patterns.

Along the way, other dear friends and family members Were also people who inspired me.  Like my dear friend, Eileen

Who taught me how to knit…(I lost this dear friend to cancer)

Then there’s my long time friend, Cherie,  who was also my neighbor for Almost 20 years who got me started with scrap booking which Eventually led that led to card making.
