Hubby's birthday card

I made a quick card for hubby's birthday!  It's a 3d card.  I made it using a 3d (Tole) sheet I purchased at craft store.  I made the plaid background using a stamp from Sweet'NSassy Stamps.

When My husband pulled the card out of the envelope he said!  "Oh a Jaguar!"  I had no idea what kind of card that was...   I told him to tell everyone if they asked what I gave him for his birthday is to say a Jaguar car!!!!

Cards made on a snowy day

I made these cards yesterday, while I was  sitting at my dining room table.  I was also looking out my window, watching all that white "stuff" falling out of the sky.  A perfect day for making cards.

I've been trying to straighten out my craft room...(an endless job) and in the process of doing that, I found a bunch of uncut tole sheets that I forgotten that I had...   Tole (and Iris folding) was one of the first techniques I used when I first started making cards!  I like to fussy cut, so I always enjoyed making cards using that technique.  The cards usually turn out being a bit thicker than I would like them to be... since I'm trying to cut down on postage costs I don't make as many of these anymore.

Twisted Sister's Challenge "direction"

At Split Coast Stampers, It was my turn this week to give the weekly challenge.  I chose to give a challenge using the word "direction"     A card could made using whatever came to mind with using this word.

I made my card for my grandson.  (In college)  I usually make him an encouragement card
when he starts school each year.  In his very first year of school...Kindergarten...His favorite books were the Dr Seuss books.  Every time I would to go his house, I would be greeted by him handing me his favorite Dr Seuss books to read over and over.  So It's become kind of a joke with us...
Last year's card was this same quote but with a picture of sneakers on it.

This was not the first card I made for the "direction" challenge.  The first one is sitting at the bottom of my trash can...needed to go onto Plan B.  (which happens a lot with me.

I'm going to give it to him anyway.  It will be a test to see
how observant he is...and if he really does look at my cards.

Easy Cards

3d card made using a 3d sheet from Penny's site..

The sheet to make the above card can be found on Page 12

This card was made using fabric...All you have to do is cut around the image...stick fabric piece  to a piece of paper with sticky on the one side...(Use this so the fabric doesn't fray)...and fussy cut around your image...and glue to your card....very easy

The stencil here I won at Dreamweaver stencils.  Isn't it cute?  The card next to the stencil  was sent by Lynell (of Dreamweaver) along with the stencil.  I believe it was made by her....The link to dreameaver stencils can be found on my sidebar...Thank you Dreamweaver!

Hopefully, I didn't miss anything with this post..

It took SIX tries to do this post...first I had computer problems, and had to get off for hubby to get me back up and running...then Second try... I had to get off in the middle of doing this  post because I got company...

Third try .A couple of hours later...I signed onto my computer only for a few minutes and company at my door again...smile.

Fourth Try...Again I signed on for a short while...just long enough to hear the thunder and see the lightning. through my window...time to log off again...

Fifth  try...computer wouldn't work.  Hubby to the rescue again...(My computer is old...he's not sure how many times he can rescue me...so If I disappear you will know why)

So I hope this SIXTH time works...

Take Time to Enjoy...

Take Time to Enjoy the Simple Things in Life...

Okay, to be honest, today life didn't seem so simple to me.  It was in some ways a challenging day.  I try to keep in mind that we ALL have days like that, and I keep reminding myself things can always be worse.  So I tried to keep in mind my motivational word.  JOY...   And Enjoy the day!

Making cards is one of the things that definitely bring me JOY!  Usually does anyway...but after two failed attempts with making a  card today...It wasn't as Joyful as I hoped...LOL.  So I put the other cards aside for now...and went the Simple way, and made a card using a 3d sheet that was given to me as a gift from my crafting friend, Cherie,  Thank you Cherie.  I hope you like the card that I made with the 3d sheet you gave me.  The sentiment was stamped with memento ink...The stamp is by Hero Arts.

Cowboy/cowgirl time

Another 3d card, this image came from Nikky, I added a stamped birthday greeting, and used another STICKER! (the cowboy/cowgirl hat)  and a charm that I had a long time...

Anniversary/Wedding cards

I made these two cards which I think could work for either Wedding/or Anniversary cards!  My daughter and son-in-law have an Anniversary coming up, and I'm trying to figure out a card for them.  I've made several and, so far, I'm not sure which one I'm going to use.

The first card is a pyramid card (the image was made up years ago...so I'm not sure where I found it. For the background I used a Stampin' Up Embossing folder (Textured Impressions Frames Tulips)Added a bow (made with bow easy)  and some line peel offs around the image.

Added some die cut paper lace, a ribbon, and a charm.

I feel like a broken record, because I have said this many times in the last month.  The above cards were made with old 3d sheets that I printed up many years ago., and some were even semi made (the 3d images)

Hopefully, many years later with doing these type of cards...I'm a little better with cutting now...than when I did these. All these cards will be used by me for my personal use only.

The first card, (Image source unknown)I added a doily that I cut with a memory die, and peel off sticker around the image, and added a bow.

The second card, I used a 3d sheet by Nikky...(her website link is on my side bar)  My background was made with a die borrowed from a friend.

Welcome Baby Boy

I am so happy for William and Kate...that I felt inspired to make a Card for a Baby boy...

As in previous posts...My image was cut out a long, long time ago...smile
so I am not sure where I printed it from...(will be used for my own personal use only)
I looked at this image for a long time not knowing quite what to do with it...
and last night for some reason it just clicked and then took me something like 10 minutes
to make this card!  Trust me, I rarely make a card in less 10 minutes.  I have already taken 3 evenings just to make one card.
My Designer paper is from Making Memories, and I used stickers for my sentiment.

Anyone for Coffee?

I love Coffee!!!  Drink too much of it!  Are you a coffee drinker, tea drinker, or None of the above?

My first card was made using a 3d sheet made by Jools, (I printed it in 2006!  Yikes)
 For my background I used a cut and fold die by Spellbinders, and added a stamped sentiment from Fiskars stamps, and my steam coming out of the coffe cup was stamped using Stazon ink on Acetate...another Fiskars stamp.

My second card was made using a 3d sheet from an unknown source.  (printed many years ago)
My Sentiment was stamped using a stamp from Northwoods Rubber stamps.

My third card was made from a 3d sheet from Nikky.  The stamped sentiment is from a stamp by SweetNSassy stamps.   This card makes me think of my father-in-law...I'm going to be sending it to my sister in law...as a memory card...I think she will like it.

Too Much Glitter?

 I made some more 3d cards...again, not sure where I found the 3d sheets...

 I wanted to make this butterfly pop a bit more on this card..  so I decided I wanted to add some glitter or stickles, or crystal effects to the card...I tried all three of them on a piece of scrap card stock...so I could compare...

 The glitter glue would not come out of the bottle, so I grabbed a pin and tried that...didn't work so I tried running the tip under hot water...still wasn't coming out of the bottle, so I gave it a really good squeeze!  Swoosh!  out comes half the bottle!  a bit more than I wanted!  LOL...I grabbed a toothpick and I was trying to add glitter glue to lots of the cards I had made before, so I didn't waste all of it.
Now I know why I am not a big fan of glitter  (Of any kind!)  I seem to always make a mess with it.  Besides the cards, it was on my hands, my clothes...
But I have to admit that when I go to stamp shows, I am always drawn to the cards that have crystal effects or glitter on them...  They look so pretty in the samples.

Thank you Audrey, for the beautiful sheets.  I used a spellbinder die for the background on the first card.  A2 Filigree Delight.  On the second card my background was made using Stampin' Up Designer paper.

KIck up your heels!

I made this card for this week's Twisted Sister challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  Tater issued this week's challenge.  This week's challenge is to make a card about something that lifts us!  And in her words, Could be a kite, a spiritual scripture, or maybe a good bra!"  The keyword for the challenge is TSC0621.  Anyone is welcome to join this challenge at Split coast...

The first thing that came to mind for me was high heels.  Don't ask me why.  I rarely wear high heels anymore.  In several of my office jobs, I wore them everyday.
My card was made with a 3d sheet made my Jak Heath.  I printed up this image a long time ago, so I'm not sure if it's still on her blog somewhere, but she still has some freebies and great tutorials which can be found here...http://www.jakheath.com/

Making 3d cards, aka, Tole cards, was the very first technique I used with making my cards, followed by Iris folding, (still a favorite of mine)

Sorry, I have been MIA for a while, I wish I could say that it's been because I have been on vacation somewhere nice...NOT!!    :-(

I have been enjoying the nice weather we have been having in my area.  At the moment, I don't have any Air Conditioning, so I have been trying to clean and declutter while the weather is still nice.
Yes, I would rather be outside, but there's so much to do inside.  I have been purging like crazy because I am Tired of my clutter.  I watched  the Hoarder's show for three hours straight one evening.  I like that show because it's a good time to me to sort and throw.  I'm less likely to hang onto things while I'm watching that show.  I keep thinking, I need to let go.  It's difficult because I'm way too sentimental.
My daughter is not sentimental, (at least not as much as me) and I know if something would happen to me, she would just grab things and throw out.  So I'm trying to save her the trouble...smile.

I have to admit it, and make a confession, I am addicted to paper!

Part of what I have been throwing out is recipes. I have way too many that I have collected over the years.  ( Don't do much cooking anymore)   Also, I threw lots of pages I ripped out from magazines through the years.
Since I only have had one magazine subscription now for the last three years or so.   You know those pages are from ages ago.  A lot of the articles are outdated so out they went.

I also found a lot of 3d sheets that I has printed out from ages ago.  I had completely forgotten that I had printed them out, so for a while you might see more tole cards from me.   Lots of cutting!!!
but I like to cut...reminds me of my childhood and cutting out all those paper dolls, and images from Sears catalogs.  Remember those?

This is the first card that I have made in over a week.  I think I am in a slump.  I can blame part of it on summer.  I think I have the Summertime blues.  I have been playing that song in my mind for awhile.  Anyone remember that song.  "Summertime blues" by Eddie Cochran.  Yes, it's an old song...
Old like me...LOL

And I think I have been a bit out of it...can I blame that on old age too?

Yesterday, I found my hubby looking down at my feet with a strange look on his face...and then ask me the question  "Why are you wearing two different shoes?' 

Yes, I admit it, Two different shoes...one red sandal and One black Sandal.  At least they felt the same on my feet.

Not waiting till the last minute...

Anyone who knows me, knows what a procrastinator I am...smile. I Leave everything go till the last minute. I Even wait, every year, till the last minute to make Christmas cards. My two Thursday night Crafting buddies, have been working on their Christmas cards...so they have inspired me to start making some too.

Some of the images and papers I have used on these cards...I had for along time, so I'm not sure who they are made by.

3d cards, Sympathy card

The above card was made from a 3d kit, I purchased last week at the CKC Scrapbook Convention that I attended ...I made this card to give to my step-brother as a sympathy card for the loss of his mother (My Stepmother) She had been in a nursing home for a long time and on Hospice for over a year. Even though we knew her time would be soon it still came as a shock to us. Please keep our family in prayer this week for the funeral...thank you...

This card and the card below this one were also made with 3d sheets that I purchased at the CKS Convention. I like to do rubber stamping, but I still think 3d cards,( also sometimes called paper tole cards)are my favorite. I switched to rubber stamped cards thinking my postage would be less...but even with stamped cards, I find myself making lots of layers, so I don't think I have saved that much on postage by rubber stamping instead....smile

My cards were both make using cuttlebug backgrounds, Stampin' Up, and October Afternoon Designer paper...added pop dots, lace, and ribbon.
