We spent a lovely day at Longwood Gardens yesterday. We have been visiting the Gardens for over 30 years, so it goes without saying, I have been there many times. Each and every time we visit the Gardens we would see something different. I could never get tired of going there. As I was walking through the outdoor gardens, I was thinking to myself..."I wish everyone in the world would be able to see this place." It is so beautiful, and peaceful.
The gardens were just wanted I needed right now. After all the heartbreaking news on TV, and sadness I feel with another loss in our family (I will post more about that later) I needed the serenity of yesterday. All told I took 60 pictures yesterday. I hope to post a few more later on.

ReplyDeleteGardens are very healing places. They symbolize hope rather than tragedy.
I don't think any of us will spend Christmas this year without thinking of the families of those who were killed.
I have a close friend who lost her daughter two days before Christmas a few years ago. As unspeakably horrible as it is to lose a child, it's even worse during the holidays. It was six months before my friend took down her tree and removed her daughter's Christmas presents. The holidays are a reminder of what happened, and it's so difficult for her to see decorations, hear Christmas Carols, and all the other things we associate with the holidays.
It hurts so much to think of those families and that town.

ReplyDeleteLongwood gardens are so beautiful! I would love to see them some day. There is a place called Butchard Gardens that is a little closer to us and one of my mom's favorite places. I would love to take Mary there some day.
