I Always have a difficult time making Sympathy cards...so this one took me a while to make...
It was made by Stamping Stampin' Up's lovely as a tree stamp. (borrowed from a friend) Embossed a background with a Cuttlebug embossing folder, (Tiny Mosaic) sentiment die cut with a die from Elizabeth Craft Designs. added a bow, peel offs, and brads.
Card made for my step-brother's widow...for the loss of her son, John (45 yrs old)
It's been less than three years since she loss her husband and now her son...
This card made me think of my Mother a lot today..because today it's the Anniversary of her passing, and it goes probably without saying...I still really miss her...
While I was posting this card...I was thinking about how her Step-Grandson has joined her and I can picture them in heaven chatting. My Mother thought of my Step-father's grandchildren as her grandchildren and so enjoyed their visits.
Sorry for the sad post today...
"Even as the sun goes down to end the light of day,
it's rising on a new horizon somewhere far away.
And though our world seems darker for the loss of one we miss,
Our loved one's life is dawning in a brighter world than this."

Oh Jill, your card is just so elegant and serene and calming - just the perfect card for one needed as you've mentioned. These are always the hardest cards to make but I am sure this one will have meant the world with it's elegance and personalized love that it was made with. Always one of my favorite stamp sets from SU - a classic set we will always hold on to, I'm sure!

Lovely card Jill, really love your design, always a difficult subject but you have done this one perfectly

Wonderful card Jill, for a sad occasion. I am glad you can think of your mother enjoying the company of her step grandson. I hate making sympathy cards too, especially 'under pressure' because the death was unexpected.

I'm sure it was very hard to make this card today, Jill, as you were thinking of your mother and this recipient who has lost so much. The card is beautiful and I'm sure it will mean the world to her.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Jill and perfect for a sympathy card. So sorry to hear for her loss. Thinking of you and you missing your Mom...I miss mine still too. Blessings! Kathy
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about the loss in your family. Such sad news. These are very hard cards to make and I try to have some on hand so when I need one I've got it ready.
ReplyDeleteyou've done an amazing job with your design and this stamp set is one of my all time faves to use for all occasions. Hugs and condolences to you and your family.
Jill, I don't think any of us like to make sympathy cards - but this is so beautiful and I know the family will appreciate it so much. A lovely card!

Oh Jill......theses cards are always so very hard to make. I am so sad and so sorry......the lord needed another angel...your card is perfect....Hugs. Deloris
ReplyDeleteI don't like making sympathy cards either. I really need to get a good set of sentiments for sympathy cards. I'm so sorry for her, how awful!
ReplyDeleteA very pretty and serene card for this sad occasion! I will never part with the Lovely as a Tree stamp set!
ReplyDeleteThese _are_ sad cards to make, but they do bring comfort. And this one is very pretty & serene. I hear you about missing your Mom. Mine has been at Home now for nearly 19 years. I'm happy that she is where she is, but I do miss her so very much. Always hard on that date too. Take care. Off to see another fold card. Wow! You need to pay a visit & teach me how to do these better! Hugs
ReplyDeleteCarol, in regard to the Lovely as a tree set. I several pieces of cardstock with that were stamped with that stamp. I was wondering whose stamp I used to stamp that image. It was from a while ago, and it may have been your stamp that I used...smile...
