Blue Monday Paper cutting

is hosting blue Monday on her blog...stop by to see the other wonderful BLUE Monday posts.
Sunday, June 28th would have been my Mother-in-law and Father-in-laws wedding Anniversary. So in their memory I am posting a picture that was given
to them from one of their friends. The friend did not want it back and gave it to me; it's a picture I treasure. It's done by hand, paper cutting called Scherenschnitt.
I've done a little bit of paper cutting but nothing as detailed as this.
"When there is love in the home there is joy in the heart."
You always felt the love in their home, and it did put Joy in my heart!

Cards with Blue

I'm posting some blue cards today...Anyone who follows my blog on a regular basis knows it's my "Favorite" thing to do, make cards. The cards are 3d, and I have used my cuttlebug on the blue vase one, and hand embossed with a stencil on the teacup card.

Tea bag Folded card (Dahlia fold)

I enjoy doing tea bag folding, but I must admit I don't do it well...but I keep trying...

I found the instructions for this card here...

I entered the card in the tea bag folding challenge at..

It's very hot and HUMID today, and I don't have air-conditioning...so the humidity is making me feel a bit unwell today...so I'm not staying on the computer long right now...

Hope everyone has a good day...

A picture of me...sort of... smile

We went to a surprise Birthday party over the weekend, and my sister-in-law hired someone to draw pictures of the guests...this is what she did for us. It sort of does look like us, just hope my nose doesn't look that big! I don't know the name of the artist (I want to find out so I can give her credit) She did give me permission to post it on my blog...

Father's day gift idea

This is an OLD picture of gifts that I gave to my husband years ago, but I thought the gifts kind of tied in with the Father's day theme.

I made my husband, a boat out of two cardboard boxes that I glued together. It doesn't look that great in the photo that I am posting today. It think it looked better in real life (smile) I made it up in one evening so I didn't spend a lot of time on it...but it did serve it's purpose. I also took a very small tree limb and tied a string on it to serve as a fishing pole.

Inside the boat I put:

Gummy worms in a tin can
A small tin of gold fish crackers
A funny video on fishing
A fishing magazine
A pillow I sewed with a picture of a fishermen on it
A fishing ornament that I made out of shrink it
Cloth fish that I sewed
An insulated vest with lots of pockets (like fishermen wear)

And Finally, a Fishing hat that I cross-stitched.

I thought that this could give ideas to some one for a Future Father's day, Christmas, or for a birthday.

"And he said unto them, follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."~Matthew 4:19

A Treasure

Recently, my step-brother came to visit me and then handed me the Bible I have posted above. He asked me if I wanted it? I opened up the front cover, and this is what I read.....

Presented to: (had my Father's name on this line)

By: (Had my name on this line)

Date: Father's Day, June 21, 1987

I had forgotten that I had given him the bible, I lost my father in 1994, and his things mostly went to my step-Mother and Step-brother. I felt like my step-brother had brought me a treasure, It was especially timely since I received it right before Father's day. The one thing that makes me chuckle now, is that the Bible is in LARGE PRINT! When I gave this bible to my father, I didn't appreciate large print, but this "GrandMa" does NOW!

This quote, makes me think of my father.

"A Father is someone who carries pictures where his money used to me."

Tagged

Becky of...http://hospitalitylane.blogspot.com/
tagged me.
Thank you Becky, for thinking of me.
I am to think of SIX unimportant things that make me happy!

I saw this post this morning and I've been thinking about it off and on throughout the day. It's a difficult question for me to answer.

I have two mothers that are both handicapped. My mother uses a walker/and wheelchair, and a my step-mother (who is bed ridden) has lost the use of her arms and legs....so Because of seeing the struggles of both of them...

Not much to me seems UNIMPORTANT!
I now know the importance of being able to WALK and explore.

I love to read, and I now know the importance of being able to turn the pages of a book

To be able to pick up a telephone and call a friend.

I don't like to shop, but I am glad that I am "physically" able to do so. To be able to hear a bird sing! (my step-Mother can't hear that through her nursing home window)
I could think of many more...
NOTHING IS UNIMPORTANT!

Hockey

Keeping in the masculine theme before Father's day...I'm posting a cross-stitch pillow that I made for my husband. He's a big Garfield fan and enjoys watching the Flyers play Hockey, so I took my Garfield cross-stitch and tried my best to make it look like he was wearing a Flyers Uniform.

My question for you...Have you ever played Hockey?

I played a little hockey in school during Gym class, and I have to tell you that I did NOT enjoy it.

Some info about Hockey

Dogwood Card

The Legend of the Dogwood

In Jesus time, the dogwood grew
To a stately size and a lovely hue.
"Twas strong and firm, it's branches interwoven
For the cross of Christ it's timbers were chosen.

Seeing the distress at this use of their wood
Christ made a promise which still holds good:
"Never again shall the dogwood grow
Large enough to be used so.

Slender and twisted, it shall be
with blossoms like the cross for all to see.
As blood stains the petals marked in brown
The blossom's center wears a thorny crown.

All who see it will remember Me
Crucified on a cross from the dogwood tree.

Cherished and protected this tree shall be
A reminder to all of My agony."

Favorite Things Friday #14

Do you like to play games? If you do, what is your favorite Game?

I found the pattern for the above Iris folded puzzle piece at the link below.

I enjoy playing games, On line and off line, I do crossword puzzles, and sudoku. I must admit, that I do NOT do the expert puzzles! But I still have fun doing them, and even though I do the easier puzzles, I hope it's still exercise for my brain.
I also enjoy playing board games, Balderdash is a favorite, followed by scrabble.

I enjoy playing on line jigsaw puzzles at the site below...

I like to do sudoku, and often play an online game of sudoku at the link below.

Rose Tunnel Card

I can't believe it's June already! The flower for June is the rose, which is my favorite flower. I have made a lot of cards using the rose image so I may be posting several rose cards this month. The birthstone for June is the pearl.
I gave the card that I'm posting today, to my daughter for her birthday. It's a tunnel card, and I made the card using the instructions that I found here....
