Quilt card

I made this card after reading a post on Benzi's blog, which can be found here...

Benzi (aka) Brenda, put a link on her blog that was shared by a blogging friend of hers, Donna.  Here is a Link to Donna's blog...

One wonderful thing about the blogging community is how bloggers come together to support other bloggers...both of these ladies are friends with Sue Drees.  Sue's sister Edith was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.  These ladies are posting links on their blogs for fellow bloggers to send cards of encouragement to Sue's sister...see one of the above links on info as to how to get an address to send your card.  Sue is a wonderful card maker, and I first heard about Sue when I was given the honor of being a guest designer on the House Mouse blog.  She was so supportive of me then, and I so appreciated her kindness.

Sue's sister, Edith,  likes quilts and flowers...so I'm sending her a "quilt" card.  The name Edith just popped out at me.  Not too many people know this secret about me.  I guess If I post it here it won't be a secret anymore.  I am adopted, I have shared that before...but I don't think I shared that my birth name was Edith, my parents changed my name when they adopted me.  So when I read the name Edith I was really drawn to  Benzi's post.

I'm getting teary eyed posting this...so I hope my post is making sense.  Our family has been touched many times with what Edith is handling right now.  Many of you know that I lost my Mother to cancer 4 years ago...but......

what I may not have shared before...is that it was my Mother's second time with cancer.  In the 1950's My Mother was diagnosed with cancer, and had surgery and radiation.  No chemo...
but that means that my mother was a 50 years or so survivor with cancer.  I wanted to share that as a message of hope...

Thank you for visiting my blog today,
Blessings,
Jill

Another Favorite

This a repost of a card I did a while back, I wanted to post it in my "favorites" post and could not find it at the time.  Kathi  from http://paperplaybykathi.blogspot.com/  a dear on line friend, asked me to  repost this one.  Thank you Kathi, for the nice comments you made in regard to this card.

I originally made this card for a Tea Pot Tuesday Challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  It's a Center Fold card, I found the instructions in the resources section at Split Coast.  I dry embossed the side panels with a cuttlebug folder and then heat embossed with gold embossing powder, added a flower, a stick on butterfly and lace trim at the bottom of the card.  My husband colored the image for me with copics.

I've had a cold and a headache for two days, so not much crafting from me lately, Hope to get back to it soon.

Thank you for stopping by my blog
Blessings,
Jill

Some of My Favorite Cards

This is one of my All time favorite cards, done with one of my favorite techniques, which I learned how to do at http://www.circleofcrafters.com/irisfolding/
I posted this card at Split Coast Stampers for a Tea pot Tuesday Challenge, and Lydia at Split Coast honored me by posting this card on Split Coast's facebook page.

This is a card I did for Carrie, who was my Mother's best friend, they were friends for over 60 years.  She was always so good to my Mother, and I wanted to make something special for her  birthday.  This card is done with the Center fold technique.A favorite card fold of mine and I learned how to do it using a tutorial at...

My husband colored this card for me with copics.  We both really like the Sugar Nellie images, and I sent this card to a special on line friend, Pat Smethers.  Pat honored me yesterday by Nominating one of my cards for the Split Coast Nominees list    For Favorite cards of the year.  Needless to say, it made my day, and brought "Happy" tears to my eyes.
This card is special to me because it was made for a House Mouse Challenge.  I felt very honored when House Mouse asked me to be a guest Designer for a month last year.
This card was made using a Dreamweaver stencil and using embossing paste.  Lynn Harlow the owner of Dreamweaver stencils, honored me by casing this card to make one of her cards..

These are just a few of my favorites, but these are the ones that stand out the most in my mind right now.

I thank you so much for stopping by my blog, and sharing your very nice comments with me.

To all who are reading this,  I hope you are showered with many blessings in the upcoming year.

My Daughter's Birthday Card...

This is the card I gave to my daughter for her birthday.  The sewing machine is made from a die that I borrowed from my crafting buddy, Kathi, but I made the sewing machine so long ago, I can't remember which die it was...I cut the machine out of black card stock...sponged it with gold ink,(while it was in the die) and then clear embossed over it.  My background paper is from October afternoon, and my birthday sentiment and the stitching is rub ons.

My daughter loves to sew and make quilts, although, these days she doesn't seem to find much time for sewing.  She has a featherweight sewing machine that had been her grandmother's and this reminded me of her sewing machine.

Today was a busy day for me, I invited four of my former classmates to come to my house for dinner.  Hubby cooked for me, (I know how fortunate I am)  but I was still busy getting the house ready, setting the table, making dessert, etc.)  They seemed to have a good time, because everyone stayed a bit longer than I thought they might..but that was a good thing.  It was a lot of fun...catching up, laughing about the old days, and looking at old pics, etc.  I had my camera all ready to take pics, and got so busy I forgot all about taking pictures.

My first flower soft card...

I purchased this bicycle card topper at ODBD..(Our Daily Bread Designs) so I could finally give Flower Soft a try.  Many years ago A friend sent me some Flower soft,  shows you what a coward I am to try new things...LOL. Connie whose blog can be found here  Kindly sent me a RAK, with some Flower soft in the package.  This is the first time I used it.  Sorry, Connie...better late than never I hope.  I notice that Connie has not been able to post on her blog for a long time.  Her beautiful cards are still there...and I know that from time to time she does visit blogs, so Connie, I hope you get to see this...
Hope everyone is having a good week.  Blessings, Jill

Laundry day

I should have sent this card off a few weeks ago, so It will lose some of its impact...but I think my grandson will still get a kick out of the card. When my grandson did his first load of laundry at school, he sent my daughter a picture of all his laundry washed and neatly folded (On his made bed) It was a proud moment for him...LOL. I thought it was cute, and, of course, I had to make this event into a card making moment. I found the little laundry clothes for the card, at Papercraft inspirations magazine...they have a lot cute free printables.

Punch Art Bunny

I saw this card posted at split coast, and thought it was adorable. I went onto her blog where she said she had the instuctions...

Great instructions! I made several of these bunnies, but I didn't have the same punches that she used, so I do like hers better. But I think my punches sort of worked...

More Tulips

The Tulips were colored with copics by my hubby. I used an ornare stencil to punch all those holes in my frame behind the tulips. I added a charm, pop dots, and ribbon. My background paper is from October afternoon

MMTPT141, Teapot Tuesday

This is the card I did for this week's teapot Tuesday. This week we were to do our cards in either a car or guitar theme. I used a digi from Leigh Grady to make my Tri Shutter card. Forgive the awful picture. It does not show all the panels of my card. After 6 tries of trying to take a photo. Well, besides realizing that I am not a photographer, I realized that this was a good a photo as I was going to get.

My digi image was colored by my hubby,(with copics) and I 3d's the image (tole) and attached to a tri shutter frame and used Stampin' Up designer paper. I also used pop-dots, and stickers for the name TOM.

Another card for Abby

At Split Coast Stampers Several of the Tuesday Teapotters group have been sending cards to Abby, a young Teenage girl with very difficult medical issues. We have been sending her cards to hopefully bring encouragement. Her birthday is this week, and her parents bought her a pug puppy for her birthday. I wanted to make a card with a pug puppy but could not find an image...but my hubby came through for me again, and found an adorable image that I used to make this card for Abby.

Please say prayers for Abby, Thank you.

Hope you have a good weekend, everyone...

Ballerina Bear, and look at what I won!!!

I made this ballerina Bear...from a digi that I found here
Thank you, Beccy, you have some beautiful digi's.
I colored the bear with copics (I'm a beginner, so please be kind)
The bottom lace border was made with a Martha Stewart punch/Deco fan
I put dimensionals on my image to pop it up, and added ribbon and brads...
I took two art classes these past two Monday evenings, to get help with learning how to
shade...My art teacher's name was Donna, and she was very helpful. Thank you Donna,
I hope to go back and take some more classes later. I would love to learn how to do pencil
drawing. I guess you are never too old to learn...at least I hope not...smile...
I also added a picture of what I won last week at the YWCA basket bingo fund raiser.
This was my fourth year attending the basket party. But the FIRST year that I won a
basket. Needless to say, I was a happy camper. I won the basket on the left...it had a
bottle of wine, and a book on wine...Plus a CD on learning about the opera.
Anyone want to come over and listen to Opera music with me?
The Other basket in the picture my daughter won at the Basket Party (along with 3 other baskets) She gave the basket to me. It was full of SCRAPBOOKING supplies. She had to twist my arm for me to take the basket off of her hands. NOT!!

Hubby gave me flowers/and I made a CAS card

Yesterday, My hubby gave me some flowers for St. Pat's day...forgot to post them...
I know the date on the pic says march 14th (forgot to change the date on my camera...smile...
and for the Yahoo group that I'm in the challenge was to make a Cas card (clean and simple)
I'm not used to making single layer cards so it was a challenge for me. I did get to use my new Stampin' Up tulip embossing folder. The flower is also made from a Stampin' Up stamp...
Blooming Beautiful.

WT313 Ways to use it Challenge at SCS

This is a card I made for the Ways to use it Challenge at Split Coast...the challenge was last week, so I am a bit late. But I have an excuse this time...smile.
My camera bit the dust! So I had to wait till the new camera that I ordered came in.
So for this challenge, I had three new things,
New camera to learn how to use...
Using felt in my Big Shot for the first time...
and Using my Tim Holtz Tattered Fl orals die for the first time...
I have so much felt still in my stash from my "Crafting" days...
So I'm glad that I may have found a new way to use it...

Birthday Card for my Son-in-Law

This card was not my original idea, I found the idea in my Magazine subscription that my husband bought for me as my Christmas present. My CraftMaker Magazine. I pretty much made the card from their layout and idea, but used a different designer paper.

Teapot Tuesday Challenge MMTPT113

It' s Tuesday again, and Tuesday is beginning to be my favorite day of the week...because it is time for my favorite card challenge...This week we have the option of sending our cards to an
organization for Alzheimer's Care Givers.
You can read about this challenge here at split coast stampers...

The card I made for this week's challenge is called a Mola card, and I found the instructions for this week's card here...
I hand cut the frame from a template from circle of crafters, and then added some Stampin' Up and October afternoon designer paper. Along with some purchased flowers that I colored with Stampin' Up rose red ink, and then added some stick on pearls.

Our anniversary...

I had this card on my blog before but it's a favorite image of mine...because I felt it could of been me at the age of four and my Jim at the age of 5 because that's how old we were when we met for the first time...
My Wedding dress...

They were very pretty when my husband gave them to me
Honest!!! smile
Pretend they are dried flowers...
I was reading Lynn's blog where she posted about her 30Th Wedding Anniversary...
http://lynnslovelies.blogspot.com/2010/09/30-years.html
Lynn wrote a beautiful tribute to her husband...
and it dawned on me that our Wedding anniversary was last week and I
never posted about it or showed the beautiful roses that my husband
bought for me...(of course they were PINK) I took a photo right before
I had to get rid of them...I should have remembered to take a photo
when he first gave them to me...but things have been so busy lately...
(like everyone else these days I am sure...)
this year made me a bit sentimental so I went looking for my wedding
dress that I made...and decided to show a picture of it...(and NO I cannot fit in it anymore!)
It's not my original wedding dress because we eloped (as teenagers)
and I never had an official wedding dress or a wedding photo when we were married
I have to tell you, If anyone would ask me what the biggest regret in my life was
I would have to tell them...That I don't have a wedding photo/or any photos taken
us of that year we were married!
We renewed our wedding vows a few years later, and I made a dress for that day
and our friends at church gave a little party afterwards...nice surprise.
We also renewed our wedding vows on our 25Th anniversary, and on
Marriage Encounter. I guess you can say we our REALLY MARRIED!

Ugly card

I will be really amazed if anyone looks at this card...with a title like that...
but since I have taken the time to make it.. I thought I would post it...smile
I made it for a card forum challenge...You were to make a card usingstripes, circles, and spots...the card does meet the challenge if nothing else

The circles are punched and I put sticky tape and then put glitter over it
a technique that I found at Split coast...but I think it's one that
I WILL NOT DO AGAIN!
I put eyelets on my card...it's the first time that I have used eyelets on a card...
and it was fun, I will do that again...but it seems strange to put in my card recipe
for making my card...Card stock, designer paper, ribbon, glitter, stickers, eyelets
and for techniques...punching and a HAMMER!
Considering how bad my week has been...that Hammer was a good way to
get rid of some of my frustrations! Never thought when I starting cardmaking
that I would be using a hammer!
