Anniversary Card..

 Click picture to enlarge

I made this Anniversary card to add to my stash!  I purchased a book "Card Sketches for Paper Crafters."  And I cased a card in the book that was made by Julia Stainton...  Her Blog can be found here...  http://juliastainton.com/blog/

I  used Stampin' Up Crumb Cake for the card base...
I heat embossed a background stamp with Wow embossing powder...I used Stampin' UP's background stamp "Bella Toile, My doily embellishment was made using a die from Cheery Lynn dies.
My flower is from Recollections, I used peel offs for my sentiment, and added, twine and leaves.

"An Anniversary is a time to celebrate the joys of today.
the memories of yesterday,
And the hopes of Tomorrow."

Shaker card for the AAA challenge

I made this Shaker card for the AAA Cards Challenge...the link to the challenge can be found here...

Whenever, I see the words, "Clean" and "Simple" I cringe!  Most of the cards I make would not be considered Clean and simple.  Usually more like lots of layers!

I'm also not sure exactly what makes a card clean and simple... so I hope this card qualifies.  I fussy cut my birds and flowers.  To me, that's simple and easy, because I love to fussy cut.  I embossed my background using a cuttlebug folder (Leafy branch).  I cut out my bird house with Spellbinder dies...(Big Scalloped squares label)  and Classic Squares Label.  I used Graphic 45 Designer paper (Botanical Tea Collection for my bird house and to cut out my birds and flower.  I stamped my sentiment (A Day of Delight) in memento ink using a Penny Black stamp.

Lots of embossing

One of my favorite things to do is emboss.  Both heat embossing and dry embossing.  This card has both.  I heat embossed my background with versamark and "Wow" white embossing powder.  I used a stamp from Stampin' Up called "Bella Toile".  I die cut by hearts with a Spellbinder die called "nested heart"  and stamped the word "Love" using a stamp from SweetNSassy stamps.

Reposting some Older cards that I made a few years ago.

The Christmas card that I posted in my last post was made using peg stamps just like these two cards that I am posting now were made using my peg stamps.  When I posted my Christmas card here on my blog, and when I posted my card at Split Coast stampers, I had a couple of people ask me "What are peg stamps"?  So I wanted to include a pic of them here in case someone didn't know.  The Rubber stamp tapestry, I believe still has a website to purchase these stamps.  I purchased mine a while back at a stamp store that is no longer in business, so I don't know if the stamps I used to make these cards are still available.  I enjoy using them because every card you make using them come out a little bit different.

My image on my first card came from Blue Moon graphics

Merry Monday Christmas Challenge

I made this card for both the Merry Monday Christmas Challenge...which can be found here

And also for the Twisted Sister Challenge at Split Coast Stampers...

The Merry Monday Challenge this week is to use ribbon and button(s) on your card...
My button is the bell in the center of my ribbon, I cut off the shank!
For the Twisted sister Challenge this week's challenge is to make a Christmas card with a Wreath on the card.

I made my wreath with using my rubber stamp Tapestry peg stamps...(Partridge in a pear tree)  and some of the peg stamps from the Cherry Blossom set.  I stamped my image with Memento inks, Rich Cocoa, Cottage ivy, Desert Sand, Sweet Plumb.  My sentiment was stamped using a stamp from SweetNSassy stamps and stamped with Stampin' Up ink (Real red)  added a ribbon, and made a frame using peel offs.

Sympathy card

I made this card for my friend, Cherie, who recently lost her grandfather.  She was his only grandchild...so they were very close.  I wanted to make a special card, and I thought that this digi image (colored with copics by my hubby) would work for me and the verse I wanted to use on the card.

Though nothing can bring back the hour
of  splendor in the grass, of glory in the flower,
we will grieve not,
rather find strength in what remains behind.

Twisted Sisters challenge...Three shades of Blue....

I made this card for this week's Twisted Sister Challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  This is a Challenge "just for fun"  This week's challenge was issued by Lesley and we were to make a card using three shades of Blue on our card.  I used 3 different shades of Blue card stock.  I made this card after I saw a card in the Paper Crafter's Magazine by Nerina Hoffe  I changed the colors that she used, and I used a different die for cutting out my scallops...My die is from SweetNSassy stamps.  My tag was cut out using a die from Spellbinders, and my sentiment was stamped using a stamp from SweetNSassy stamps and Tim Holtz distress ink.  My background was dry embossed using an embossing folder from Stampin' Up.  added a ribbon, brad and some stick on pearls.

May the sun shine,
all day long,
everything go right
and nothing wrong.
May those you love
bring love back to you,
And May all the wishes
You wish come true

My Grandson's birthday Card

This is the card I made for my grandson.  I absolutely can't believe he just turned 21!

Where did the time go?  It seems like it was just yesterday that  Chris was this sweet little boy
sitting on my Mother-in-law's Lap...
I am a little bias...smile...but I think he's still a sweet boy.  I know, he technically a grown "man" now...but aren't they always that sweet young boy in your heart?   He's still a baseball fan...he was back then and now too.
Found on Pinterest

My hubby has my computer fixed!  What would I do without him?
I have a lot of catching up to do...to make up for when I couldn't get on the computer.  I'm trying to catch with my commenting.

We have family in from out of state, so that has kept me busy too.  It has been so good seeing them.  It's been years!!!  Lots of catching up to do there too.  (They are visiting us from California)

Now as Darnell would say,  It's time for New Friends Corner...

First there is Janie,  Welcome Janie.  You have some very pretty cards on your blog...
Janie's blog can be found here...

And Becky,  Now Becky, is not new to me...I've been looking at Becky's lovely cards for a long time now.  They are all so beautifully done.  Becky, makes a lot of "comfort" cards.  Which is my favorite kind of card to make...I always hope my cards brings some comfort/and or joy to the receiver.
Here is the link to Becky's blog

And Donna,  Donna's blog is new to me, but I am so happy that I found her blog.  Not only does Donna have beautiful cards, she also  has lots of computer and crafting tips that I have already found useful.  Thank you Donna, and thank you for joining my blog.

Easy Cards

3d card made using a 3d sheet from Penny's site..

The sheet to make the above card can be found on Page 12

This card was made using fabric...All you have to do is cut around the image...stick fabric piece  to a piece of paper with sticky on the one side...(Use this so the fabric doesn't fray)...and fussy cut around your image...and glue to your card....very easy
The stencil here I won at Dreamweaver stencils.  Isn't it cute?  The card next to the stencil  was sent by Lynell (of Dreamweaver) along with the stencil.  I believe it was made by her....The link to dreameaver stencils can be found on my sidebar...Thank you Dreamweaver!
I won a gift certificate from Darnell's NBUS challenge and I used my gift certificate towards the purchase of these two dies...Spellbinder border die, and a sizzix circle flip card die. Thank you Darnell!   The link to Darnell's blog can be found on my side bar...
Oh happy day, I received a blog award from Serendipity stamps for the above card!  Thank you Serendipity.   Serendipity stamps blog is also found on my side bar...

Patti's blog and lovely work can be found here...

Patti is trying to make 100 cards in 100 days...and the last time I looked at her blog, she looked pretty close to her goal.  Way to go!  Patti...
Sometimes it takes me days to make a card....
*****************************

Hopefully, I didn't miss anything with this post..
It took SIX tries to do this post...first I had computer problems, and had to get off for hubby to get me back up and running...then Second try... I had to get off in the middle of doing this  post because I got company...
Third try .A couple of hours later...I signed onto my computer only for a few minutes and company at my door again...smile.
Fourth Try...Again I signed on for a short while...just long enough to hear the thunder and see the lightning. through my window...time to log off again...
Fifth  try...computer wouldn't work.  Hubby to the rescue again...(My computer is old...he's not sure how many times he can rescue me...so If I disappear you will know why)
So I hope this SIXTH time works...

Quilt card

I made this card after reading a post on Benzi's blog, which can be found here...

Benzi (aka) Brenda, put a link on her blog that was shared by a blogging friend of hers, Donna.  Here is a Link to Donna's blog...

One wonderful thing about the blogging community is how bloggers come together to support other bloggers...both of these ladies are friends with Sue Drees.  Sue's sister Edith was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.  These ladies are posting links on their blogs for fellow bloggers to send cards of encouragement to Sue's sister...see one of the above links on info as to how to get an address to send your card.  Sue is a wonderful card maker, and I first heard about Sue when I was given the honor of being a guest designer on the House Mouse blog.  She was so supportive of me then, and I so appreciated her kindness.

Sue's sister, Edith,  likes quilts and flowers...so I'm sending her a "quilt" card.  The name Edith just popped out at me.  Not too many people know this secret about me.  I guess If I post it here it won't be a secret anymore.  I am adopted, I have shared that before...but I don't think I shared that my birth name was Edith, my parents changed my name when they adopted me.  So when I read the name Edith I was really drawn to  Benzi's post.

I'm getting teary eyed posting this...so I hope my post is making sense.  Our family has been touched many times with what Edith is handling right now.  Many of you know that I lost my Mother to cancer 4 years ago...but......

what I may not have shared before...is that it was my Mother's second time with cancer.  In the 1950's My Mother was diagnosed with cancer, and had surgery and radiation.  No chemo...
but that means that my mother was a 50 years or so survivor with cancer.  I wanted to share that as a message of hope...

Beautiful Day...

I made this card using some fabric from Loralie Designs, lots of fussy cutting, but it's something I like to do.  I also made my own designer paper using copics and a micro pen to make my paper match the fabric.  I did dry embossing with a Stampin' Up embossing folder for the background.  I added a ribbon and the stick on jewels.

I had a fabulous day today.  It's one of those days you wish you had more of...I was able to craft with a favorite crafting buddy and we did our crafting on my porch.  It was so nice out on the porch...slight breeze blowing through.  Enough to keep us cool, but not blow away our projects. We stopped long enough to go to my daughter's house and eat wonderful food at my daughter's cook out.

Good weather, Time crafting and having fun with family and friends.  It doesn't get much better than this...smile.

Just about every time after I do a post....I realize that I have forgotten to post something...
This time  it's to welcome some more of my new followers...
This time it's Jeanne J   and here is her blog...

I noticed Jeanne's work a while ago, while not only seeing her beautiful work on her design teams, but I would also see her name in some of the magazines I purchased.  She also has some great tutorials on her blog,  lots of beautiful work to see there...Welcome Jeanne...

and Cathy,  Welcome Cathy, So happy you have found my blog...
Cathy's blog is named "Crafting Cathy"  and here is a link to her blog

You will find some really cute cards on her blog.  Cathy, when reading the intro on your blog, I noticed that you and I have something in common.  Your hubby cooks for you.  Since he is a chef I'm sure his meals are wonderful!  I'm fortunate because my Jim likes to cook too, and cooks almost all of our meals.  (Now that is, that he is retired)  I did all the cooking before that...I was ready for a rest...smile.     Besides, I have to admit it,  He is a better cook than I am.

I'm excited this card made the Weekly Favorite list at Splitcoast stampers...thank you, Monique, for adding my card to your "favorites" list.

Twisted Sister challenge at Split coast...

I made this card for this week's Twisted sister challenge at Split Coast Stampers.  This week it was my turn to issue the challenge, and with the holiday I thought I should make it an easy challenge.  The challenge is to use something on your card that you never used before...(sounds like a Darnell challenge...smile)  I originally wanted to add that it couldn't be stamps, but I changed my mind.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think most everyone has at least one stamp that they have never used yet.
My card was made using an image that was colored by my hubby with copics.  The stamp is Unknown, but it's an image of a Lighthouse in Maine, USA.  The items that I had not used before was my Spellbinder dies (A2 Curved Matting Basics B) and the cork that I used for the frame.  I have never used cork on a greeting card before.  I like the look of the cork, so I'll probably use some again. I also added a charm, and twine.

Happy Birthday to my Brother and Darnell

I made this card to give to my brother whose birthday is today!  I just realized this morning that it is also Darnell's birthday.  They are having a link up party today for Darnell and you can find that link here
So this card is also to celebrate your birthday,  The beer mug that the bear is holding has enough in it for TWO.  Smile...

Happy Birthday, Darnell, and I hope by now, you have received the card that I put in the Mail for you.

The card that I made for my brother was made using a 3d sheet that I purchased .  It's Wellington and I believe the sheet is distributed by doccrafts.  I purchased mine locally in a scrap book store.

For my background I used Designer paper from Die cuts with a View,  stamped my birthday greeting with a stamp from Katie & Co. Used Versamark and white embossing powder from Wow, added dimensionals to pop up my image, and some twine.

And Darnell...
"Although I can't wish you a happy birthday in person, I will spend the whole day with happy thoughts of you."

Making 3d cards on a summer day...

After throwing two cards in the trash...I gave up on what I was trying to make, and started to clean up my craft room instead.  In the process I found some 3d images I had put together a long time ago, and never made into a card.  Since they were made so many years ago....I'm not sure where I found the images.

I've been trying to make changes with my cards, and have not been too successful.  I'm used to making cards with lots of layers and embellishments.  It's my goal to learn how to do one layer cards, or clean and simple cards.  I'm not there yet!  LOL   But with these two cards above...I have tried to embrace the white space, which is also something new to me.  I usually go hunting for designer paper, etc to match.

I had a happy surprise this week when I logged into Darnell's blog...I was one of the winners of her first ever challenge!!!  Oh Happy day!
Speaking of Darnell, (You can find her blog if you click on the above icon.  I have been following one of her traditions of welcoming her new followers...   Today I am going to welcome Nikki,
Nikki is very creative, and you would really enjoy a visit to her blog.  I know I have...Here is a link
to her blog...

I have some more new followers that I will give a shout out to in my next post.

Since hubby and I are not going on vacation this summer...I consider my porch as my vacation spot, and lately I have been making my cards outside on my porch.  (At least it's a way for me to enjoy being outside...smile)   Today, I lasted 30 minutes out on my porch...It's definitely summer weather here....Sticky!!!
