OK, I will be honest not too sure how I feel about this card...It was made with another 3D image that I had cut out a long time ago...and finally managed to get it on a card. My sentiment was cut out with a die from Alery Elle...
Just some thoughts from today.
A few months back I had stopped making cards for a while. I have enjoyed making cards for about 15 or more years now. So it was one of my longest breaks for crafting. I was thinking of stopping all together... convincing myself, that maybe making cards these days isn't that important anymore...
Today totally changed my mind! I received a card in the mail from a dear friend that had been my very first co worker when we were both about 17 years old. (that was a few years ago...NOT!) My friend and I have shared so much ...good times...and some some sad times. I was her maid of honor, and we attended each others childrens' weddings, etc. Shared so much through the years.
The card she sent me, was not home made, because she doesn't make cards. (although, I have managed to get her to come to a card party at my house once and a while).
She wrote in the card that she purchased... when she saw the card she thought of me, and then wrote me a long note in the card. It took me several tissues to read through the note. She mainly shared about our friendship and what it meant to her..
I'm thinking to myself..."And I was beginning to think a few months ago that cards weren't that important? I was so wrong! She has encouraged me now more than ever to keep making cards.
Sorry that was so long...Just wanted to share.
Blessings,
Jill

ReplyDeleteHi Jill
ReplyDeleteWell I for one love your card! Those tulips look amazing against the embossed background.
The card from your friend sounds such a lovely gift to receive. How wonderful to have such a long established friendship that holds so many memories for the both of you. Clearly a friendship that will never end and will always be cherished.
Pleased you have been encouraged to continue your cardmaking. I think a lot of people have questioned how important various things are in their lives are during these troubled times .. .. .. but for me crafting settles my brain and is my escape from it all.
Have a good day.
Love Jules xx

Jill, I love your story. I love seeing your cards and what you put into them. I have made so many friends in what I call "cardland." One was recently put in a nursing home. I send her a card every month just to let her know I am thinking of her. My family always looks forward to my cards, also. I had to laugh at my grandson's birthday in August, when he turned eight. I had made him a Wizard card. It turned out really cute. His parent gave him the gift with the card attached. He opened the envelope and said, "Grandma, did you make this for me? I love it." He was more excited about the card then the gift! Well, almost. We got him a keyboard and he did love that. I had given up for a couple years due to cancer and some other medical issues. I'm so glad I got back into it. I enjoy it every day. Your card is so very pretty. I am glad you got back into it. I enjoy seeing your work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for leaving a kind note on my blog. I had to stop in to say hello... and am glad that I did. This posting touched my heart. I haven't stopped making cards. During COVID it's become therapy. But what I haven't been doing is actually mailing them out...that's what I've NOT been doing. Your posting makes me committed to start using them to reach out to people that God puts on my heart. During these difficult times, I'd like to provide a bit of encouragement whenever possible. So... thanks so much! (and I like your tulip card!) Kathy A at myasperations.blogspot.com
ReplyDeleteSo glad you have received that card and now realise how wonderful it is to receive a card. I enjoy your cards, and this one is no exception - the partially embossed background is perfect behind the wonderful tulips
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings

It's funny how a heartfelt message can trigger us to getting back to what we love. Beautiful tulips and someone will enjoy this pretty card for sure!
