They are calling for lots of snow in our area in the next couple of days and possible sleet, etc.
and My DH is afraid with this heavy snow, and ice...a lot of it already on our trees, etc. that our electricity might go out. So I thought I better try and post this card while I can...just in case.
This card took me much longer to do than I would like to admit...LOL! Mainly because I could not figure out what paper combo to use...It's a larger size card 5" x 7".
I used a tutorial posted by Sandi Genovese....who does the most amazing scrapbook how to videos.

The number one mistake I made in making my card...was my card stock base for this card was not heavy enough. My card also looks like it's not straight across on the top of the card....but in real life it is. Not sure why it photographed that way. It's too late at night, for me to try and take new pics.
I wanted to do a post today...so I could make a card that would be in memory of my Mother. It is four years this week that I lost my Mom. She loved Victorian cards, and I'm sure she would have liked this one. My Mother's service was held during the worse weather that we had that whole winter. We had a blizzard that day.

On a happier note...I had something else to bring me JOY today. (My motivational word for this year!)
I have a new follower on my blog. Bonnie... Bonnie's blog can be found here...
Stamping with Klass. I realized that she used her name.....but let me tell you her cards are made with CLASS! Bonnie makes Stunning, elegant cards. I first became familiar with her work with the lovely cards she posts at Split Coast Stampers. Thank you, Bonnie...
Since my Mother has been on my mind a lot this week...(and always in my heart) I want my quote today to be a "Mother" quote...
"A Mother's love is like a circle, it has no beginning and no ending. It keeps going around and around ever expanding, touching everyone who comes in contact with it."
~Art Urban"

Beautiful card Jill - it really does have a Victorian air to it.
ReplyDeleteDo hope you don't loose power in that cold.
Blessings
Maxine
Jill, it's a beautiful card in memory of your mother. I'm sure she would have loved it. The lace is so pretty as are the papers you've used.
ReplyDeleteStay safe in that terrible weather.
I KNEW YOU COULD DO IT. You did a beautiful job. I will leave you do the card making. MUCH better at it than me.
ReplyDeleteHugs
Jill, you picked the perfect color combo for this beautiful card! So lovely and soft looking.....I know your mom would have loved it too.
ReplyDeleteHope y'all stay safe in all that bad weather up there. If you lose electricity, just hop in the car and take a road trip to Texas!
Lynn
If the roads wouldn't be so bad right now (ice) might not be a bad idea to go to Texas...I have family living in Texas (never been there)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out, Jill! How nice! I love this beautiful vintage card! My Mom has been gone for 35 years and I still miss her. You've left us with a beautiful quote to go with a beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty card! Love the fancy fold!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely Valentines card Jill. You didn't say it was but it looks like it could be? Love how it opens and the pretty color combo.
ReplyDeleteHope the electric didn't go out? Living in the North is such a challenge this time of the year. I don't miss it.
Stay warm and dry.
Hugs...Leanne
This is such a gorgeous vintage beauty! I love the way it folds and the pretty papers & lace you used. We were fortunate not to lose power today and I'm very grateful too! I hope your treasured memories carry you through these next few weeks.
ReplyDeleteI wish Sandy was still on TV - I was an avid watcher of her show every time it was on!
Carol, I used to watch her TV show too, she gave such great scrapbooking hints...I have a couple of her books. She still has a lot of tutorials at UTUBE!
ReplyDeleteLeanne, Yes I did make it to use as a Valentine's card...
ReplyDeleteWe were fortunate our electric did not go out...(still hoping it doesn't) our lights flickered...the snow was heavy and there's lots of ice everywhere...
I would imagine you would NOT miss this weather...LOL.
Beautiful card, I love the image and the interactive nature of it. Hope that you are all dug out!
ReplyDeleteThis is stunning.
ReplyDeleteWe got a lot of snow today, and more is expected Sunday night into Monday. I lost my electric last year and of coarse it was the coldest night 0.. I went to a shelter to keep warm.
Great fold! I like it a lot! Also a very pretty vintage image.
ReplyDeleteNick
Oh Becky, that could not have been fun...sure hope you don't lose your electric again this winter...Thanks for your nice comments.
ReplyDeleteHi Jill, Love your card and that fold is terrific. I have the same problem when I do a gatefold card. It seems to photo uneven, but to my eye it looks fine. Loved the way you used the vintage photo and what a beautiful memorial to your Mother. The colors were perfect, along with the lovely elegant lace and the embossing. The S/B heart is beautiful too, and I wouldn't have thought to use it as you did! (Now I will!). And yes on Bonnie with Class. She's a sweet, kind & very elegant lady. Shares so very much inspirational cards. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet thing to dedicate your post to your mother! Wow - very heartfelt and sweet Jill. Your card is lovely - great image and super fold/shape. Hope you didn't get too much snow. Stay warm my friend. Hugz!
ReplyDeleteJill - I was so touched when I saw your beautiful Victorian card!! The image you used is so lovely! I am so very sorry for the very great loss of your beloved Mother!! It is so very hard to miss those that we love so much! I pray you feel her spirit around you loving you just as much and as well as when her physical presence was here. My heart goes out to you! February is a hard time for us!! Be blessed! Hugs my friend!!
