We are getting ready to do some needed repair in our home...(not looking forward to the mess)
we had a leaky roof (roof was just replaced this week) so now we can fix our ceiling...Yes the whole ceiling will probably have to come down. In anticipation of this...we need to put some of our things in storage to make room...Okay, that was probably more info than you wanted to know...smile...
Anyway, My point is...I am taking photos of some of things before we put them in storage...The Mouse house that I am showing you today was made by my father in law about 15 years ago. I saw the idea in a "Better Homes and Garden" magazine. I showed it to him and asked him if he could make it for me. I wanted it made for my grandson to play with who was 2 years old at the time. When he finished the Mouse house, he also made me some furniture for the inside...including a fire place. I actually called it the Teddy bear house, because I bought little teddy bears for him to play with the house. He played many hours with this little house. I had always hoped to finish it with wallpaper on the walls, etc...but with working full time, etc. I never got around to doing that...but oh, the possibilities! Obviously, my teenage grandchildren no longer use this doll house. But it's hard for me to let go...maybe one day I will try and decorate it for my great grand children...The outside cover was hand painted for me by my Husband's Aunt
That is so cute! I'll bet hours and hours of fun and imagination were spent with this Mouse House.

That is just the cutest thing! I see why you would not want to part with it. I would love to make Mary something like that:) Such a great idea.
ReplyDeleteLOVELY story but I'm so sorry about your roof and the future mess! The good news is, you were able to share this wonderful piece of your history with us. Truly a special house that your teenage children will want for their children one day to make their own memories!
ReplyDeleteWhat a magnificent treasure this is! Just knowing your FIL hand-crafted it is reason enough to hang onto it forever! I love the bathroom in the house! Fabulous details!!
ReplyDeleteLove your cards.....I can see you also love what you do....Sorry about the roof....and having to put things away...but I am sure you will be happy with the outcome....Hugs Deloris
