I knew that Darnell said on her blog that she was going to have another NBUS challenge, so I thought I would try and make Kathi's card using something NBUS from my stash. The stencil that I used in the above card I had won at the Dreamweaver Challenge blog ...LAST WINTER! I thought that I was way overdue in getting it out and using it. Darnell's challenge always encourages me to do so.
Instead of making Kathi a cake for her birthday. My other weekly Crafting buddy, Cherie. Came up with the idea of making fruit tarts. Let me tell you they were Delicious!
My card above was made with Dreamweaver Stencil LL437. To say that I struggle using embossing paste...is an understatement. It only took me 6 tries to get a good image with my paste.
They say practice makes perfect! It took me two days to get Kathi's card done, (because of all my flops with the embossing paste) I was still working on my card when she was driving over to my house for craft night. That was a really close call! Didn't know I could glue a card together so fast. (But I think she did like it).
Darnell's fabulous NBUS challenge can be found here...
I have entered ALL of her other challenges, and was fortunate to win a prize in one of the
challenges. This time, Darnell has a big surprise...Lot's of Sponsors offering challenges!
Wow!
Thank you so much, Darnell, for doing this for all of us.

Thank you for visiting my blog today,

I'm so glad you stuck with it and completed this beautiful card. I thought I was the only one that had to re-do something six times. It's lovely and know she loved it too.

ReplyDeleteThe fruit tarts look as fun as your card does! I'll pass on the embossing paste - I have enough trouble just stamping and cutting! LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous! Good for you for persevering - it was well worth it with the stencil. Those fruit tarts look A-MAZING! I'm your newest follower. Happy Crafting!
ReplyDeleteAll your efforts were certainly worthwhile :) What a great way to celebrate with friends. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've got a labelled photo of your flops lol! I find stencils very difficult to work with but you've totally pulled it off on this one - love the colours you've used together!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a beautiful post, JIll! Those tarts look absolutely delish, and you are right -- a great idea! My son just celebrated his birthday this week and wanted an ice cream cake instead of the 'cakey cake stuff, mom!' LOL! Beautiful feathered card, and I love all the
ReplyDeleteones that didn't make the cut, too :) Blessings!
Jill, I had to re-read you post~can't believe that feather is a stencil! Your card is really beautiful and I'll bet your friend thought so too. :-) Pretty fruit tarts too :-p
ReplyDeleteYour card is beautiful, and I would say that you have mastered and conquered embossing powder. Thanks for showing your flops. It makes me feel better that I am not the only one who has to keep trying and trying for things to work out in the end. You are making it REAL.
ReplyDeleteThis was a special card with a special image. I know how you struggled getting it just right for Kathie. You knew she loved peacocks and this was special for her and for the challenge. I am glad you didn't give up. It's beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMuch Love, Large Hugs, Many Blessings

What a fun idea to have tarts! I am sure they were a huge hit! I love seeing your flops! I was trying a new technique recently had about a dozen flops! Sigh! I am glad you kept at it because your birthday card turned out beautifully and sounds like just in time!!!!
ReplyDeleteThese cards are STUNNING!! You rocked the embossing paste!! I think you can say you have mastered this technique. I LOVE that stencil. I am not great with embossing paste myself. I always put it on too thick and it gets clumpy. Now I think I am going to have to give it a try again. Thanks for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteYour card turned out lovely!
ReplyDeleteStunning feather card Jill, the flops look pretty good to me as well! Tarts sound like a great cake replacement!
ReplyDeleteHope you saved the flops because they look fab and you can definitely use them too. Lovely card! Those tarts look yummy - I must try this and I must get some close by crafting friends like yours!!! Hugz
ReplyDeleteHello Jill and thank you so much for your sweet comment on my Mouse card for SIP and Darnell's NBUS challenges.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried embossing paste but, I've seen gorgeous cards made with it, just like yours. Gosh!! even the "flops" look amazing.
That's it!!! I'm getting some of this paste to start practicing, looks like it's totally worth it.
Inky hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
This is such a pretty dreamweaver stencil Jill and has made a very elegant card for your friend. I empathise with your stencil problems as I have just started using texture paste and haven't found the knack yet of stopping it from creeping under the stencil! x
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty. I love the feather on the pretty blue paper.
ReplyDeleteOh, yum, those fruit tarts really do look delish, Jill! I'm so pleased that you persevered with the making of this card because it turned out beautifully! (Actually, your flops don't even look that bad to me!) I'm sure Kathi will treasure it always!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for supporting my NBUS Challenge again and for all your encouragement! Thank you, too, for taking the time to comment on so many of the other entries!! I'm sorry I'm so late getting to you, but I know you understand. (We are on the upswing here! Thank you for your prayers!) Enjoy your day and take care!! Hugs, Darnell
