I made the above gift book for my granddaughter as part of her graduation present. She seldom looks at my blog, so I feel fairly safe in posting it. (I think my blog is too boring for her...smile)
This "Tiny" gift book is still a work in progress. I still need to add photos and journaling in the inside pages. I usually make 12 x 12 scrapbooks or 11 by 8 1/2. This one is 6 x 6.
I paper pieced the butterfly on my front cover. I added dimensions to pop it up off the page. My paper is from Stampin' Up. I used a micron pen to trace around the stencils on the Shrink it. I then colored the images with copics, and cut them out. Shrink it is something I really enjoy doing. I think I'm in my second childhood...smile
In the above pic you can see the stencils I used for my "Tiny Treasures" I used the butterfly, umbrella, and silhouette stencil for my charm embellishments which I will put in the inside of my book. I enjoyed doing this so much that I am going to looking at the stencils differently. I want to buy stencils that I think will work well with this technique. I also paste embossed my "celebrate" title with white embossing paste. I then sponged over it with Tim Holtz distress inks...the embossing paste works as a resist. So I just used a tissue to wipe off the extra paste.
I'm entering this in the May Dreamweaver Challenge...
http://dreamweaverstencils.blogspot.com/
For the month of May the theme is "Tiny Treats" Party favors, Wedding favors, end of the school treats, Teacher appreciation gifts, baby shower favors, small tokens of appreciation.
There is still a few days open for the challenge, and someone who enters the challenge will win a free stencil. I have been fortunate to win a few times this past year, and the umbrella, and celebrate stencils were two of the stencils that I won in challenge.
Thank you for visiting my blog today.
Hope you have a great week end...
Blessings,
Jill

This is super cute, Jill! I can't wait to see it all finished! The shink and stencils look fun to do and are coming out awesome! What a special gift for your granddaughter! Blessings! Kathy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Jill! I love all the charms you made. Maybe I should bring all my large stencils over on one of our craft nights so we can make lots of charms for our future projects. :-) Love the resist with the celebrate stencil too. I just knew you'd manage to think of something to do with your stencils that was just terrific for the Dreamweaver tiny treats challenge!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Kathi
Kathi, sounds like a great idea...I would like that, thank you...

ReplyDeleteBeautiful album you've made for your granddaughter!! I'm sure the 6x6 format feels little compared to the regular 12x12. It's very cool that you used some of the stencils you've won! It's how I got a lot of mine too before I joined the DT. Thanks so much for joining in on the fun this month for the Dreamweaver Stencil challenge!
ReplyDeleteHello Jill...a lovely creation this month! I am so inspired by this paper piecing done with stencils! Every time I see it I feel the urge to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous and inspirational gift idea, Jill! Love how you created the butterflies. Thanks so much for playing along with us once again at Dreamweaver!
