Filoli Gardens...Click on pictures to enlarge
Muir woods
and Napa Valley trail
I'm working on a card right now...that is only about half finished, and I had to walk away from it...Can you tell that it is not going very well...Time to take a break...and maybe Day dream a bit instead!
This time of year, I always think back over my DREAM vacation. My husband and I have done very little traveling through the years.. (There's this thing called budget...that has prevented us from taking too many vacations smile). However, I was fortunate enough to get to go on what I call my dream vacation back in 2007. I live on the East Coast, and for me to get on a vacation to the West coast was something I thought I would never be able to do. Thanks to family and friends who provided free lodging and some free meals, (and my Mother even paid for our plane fare as our Christmas gift) We managed to get to California for a couple of weeks...Our longest vacation ever. We were in Napa Valley, (My favorite) near Pis-mo Beach, Solvang, and San Francisco.
I enjoyed almost everything about it, except the plane ride. It was only my second time on a plane, and I hated it almost as much as my first trip on a plane.
I was visiting a blog yesterday...
I found Liz's blog while I was visiting the Dream team's blogs Dreamweaver stencils
(the link is on my side bar.
Liz posted a beautiful card she made using a Dream weaver stencil. The stencil reminded her of the wisteria at Filoli Gardens in California. She immediately had me dreaming about my vacation in California, and visiting those beautiful gardens...I had to go and try to find my pictures from the Gardens...
Another favorite place I visited was Muir woods, and the Napa Valley trail...
I hoped to post more photos...but, at the moment, I can't find where I saved those photos on my computer or the disc, I have them on. (I told you I'm not too organized. But I did find the discs that my SIL gave me of our vacation. which has over 4000 photos on it... I think it's going to take me some time to find the photos on those discs that I am looking for...LOL
so I am going to have post those another day...
I hope you enjoyed day dreaming with me today....
Thank you for visiting my blog...
Blessings,
Jill

Memory lane is fun once in a while! Looks like it was a beautiful trip! Blessings! Kathy
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful pics Jill. The first one of the gardens reminds me a dream vacation we would like to go on is to Buchard Gardens on Victoria,BC Canada. I have been there as a teenager but my husband has never been. It is a true gardener and flower lovers heaven :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! I like that stencil card too - we just stenciled my DD's pantry and it came out fabulous (but it was ultra tedious). TFS! Hugz!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's better to walk away for a while when things don't go right on your cards, I find that out frequently!
ReplyDeleteI love your garden photos, and would love to go to the west coast sometime.
I do have a wisteria, and it reminds me of the time we went to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens outside Charelston, SC. I wish I could go back there. The gardens were absolutely amazing. (Google it, it's only a day or two away from PA). Only the redbuds and camelias were blossoming while we were there, but you wouldn't believe the wisteria vines I saw. I wish so much those and the azaleas and Rhododendrons had been out.
Anyway, if you ever get the chance, it's the most amazing garden I've ever been to in my life.
Also, I hope you do that candy box, it would be a wonderful tribute to your father, and would go so well with your mother's box. My father used to get those Samplers for my mother!
What a wonderful holiday you must have had! Hope the card goes well now!
ReplyDeleteBlessings

Oh, that is a good thing to go down memory lane thinking about. It's beautiful and I'm so glad you got that dream vacation. Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteTFS the beautiful photos! In all my years, I've never even been to the west coast, so I enjoyed these photos so I can see what I'm missing ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved reading about your vacation to Calif. and your fear of flying. I'm not fond of it either. When I flew to France it felt like forever being on the plane ride. But it was worth it to see South France. I also saw Calif and toured San Franscio and Big Sir along the coast line. It was breath taking. Both trips seem like age's ago now.
