Cards for my Weekly craft night
I have mentioned before, that I am very fortunate to be able to get together every week with two of my craft buddies at my home. I so look forward to Thursday nights...
Usually it's mainly just to craft together, and do show and tell (feel like I'm back in school...smile)
We started doing something new...Once a month we take turns playing "teacher" and we do a monthly "Make and Take"
My first card, was the sample card I made for my "teaching" example. It's made with a herringbone background...you can find the tutorial here
I first saw it done on a card, at Carol's blog. Carol, uses this technique a lot on her cards, and every time I would see it, I would say to myself, "You've to learn that technique" Well, Carol, thanks to you I finally did it!!!! Yea!!! Since I have been fortunate enough to actually craft with Carol a couple of times, I may have actually seen one of her fabulous cards done in this technique in real life.
My card is made with a Sugar Nellie image, which I think is called "Sophie" It's one of the first images that my husband colored for me, so I've had it a long time...finally got around to making a card with it, and I not only made this for an example for my crafting buddies, Cherie, and Kathi,
I also made it for a challenge at Split Coast. The challenge was to make a card with a child on it.
My second card was for our Thursday night challenge, I was to make a masculine card. The only thing is I probably shouldn't have used flowered Designer paper as my wallpaper on the card.
The card was made using a 3d image (the clock) made from a 3d sheet that Cherie purchased for me.
Thank You for visiting my blog today...
Blessings,
Jill

I love both cards Jill. I've never tried any of the "quilting strips" type backgrounds, but I've always wanted to. A few years ago, I began putting all my leftover thinner strips of decorative and plain paper in a box so I would be ready to try it, but they are still in the box!
ReplyDeleteI love the second one too.I think it would work well for a man, even with the flowers in the wallpaper. I really like the dimensional clock and the embossing below the pretty wallpaper. It really looks like a room!
Sent you an email about how to join Pinterest without a FaceBook account yesterday.
What I wouldn't give to be a part of your Craft Nights!
ReplyDeleteThese cards are wonderful. Once again, your hubby did a fabulous job coloring Nellie. And the papers you chose to go with her are perfect. Thanks for the link to Beate's tutorial...can't wait to try this.
I love your masculine card too, and didn't even notice the floral "wallpaper" until you mentioned it. It still looks VERY masculine. Your Grandfather clock, wood grain embossing folder and wainscoting (is that what they call it?) strip make it look like a dining room scene. Nicely done!
Two sweet little cards with your crafting friends.
ReplyDeleteMy distant relative (Nancy) and friend comes each year to visit and do cards together. This year she is unable to come visit. I will miss our crafting time together this year.
Enjoy your girlfriends on crafting night...
Hugs...Leanne
It is always so much fun to stamp with friends. When my friend and I get together we talk so much, we get nothing done :).
ReplyDeleteBoth of these cards are beautiful.
Thanks for the shout-out, and I'm glad you tried the herringbone technique! Your card is beautiful with that gorgeous image and the pretty papers you chose! I really like the clock card too! NJ on both!
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are adorable. It is so fun to create something and have fun with friends at the same time!
ReplyDeleteLovely cards Jill - I am still amazed at your husbands colouring - what a blessing. I am now going to look at the herringbone technique. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
I love the herringbone pattern. I've seen Carol do it many times and so well. Great job on yours, too.
ReplyDeleteYour second card is so pretty and I like the chair rail...wallpaper, too.
Really beautiful, Jill. You have such an amazing talent. Both cards have so much to look at and admire.
ReplyDeleteI'm really hitting some rough patches with all the remodel mess...I keep thinking about you. It is hard, isn't it?
Have a blessed Sunday.

Wonderful cards and wonderful stories. Love Carol's technique and this cards are really beautiful. How great you have buddies to create with - it makes this addiction so much more fun to share it in person - LOL! How lucky you are to have crafted with Carol - I love her work (and yours too). Hope we can craft together one day. Hugz!!
