I received the beautiful flowers that you see above from my Cousin Lori and her friend Don. They both managed to fly in from Texas and see my Mother a few days before we lost her, but because of the snow they were unable to get a flight in from Texas to attend her funeral.
I am tired of snow, but I am still so grateful that we didn't lose our electric. Towns close to us did. I still have so much to do...I have three weeks to clean out my Mother's apartment or I will have to pay another month's rent. (that thought seems overwhelming to me right now...) I have been to her apartment several times, and it's more difficult than I thought, I will see something that will set me off... Like yesterday realizing that the last book I purchased for her ( a book that was written by her favorite author) was sitting on her night stand by her bed...and I could tell by the placement of her bookmark...that she was unable to finish the book...
God Bless you all, Hope you have a nice day, and again thank you all for your encouragement and support...I am so grateful
I do hope you have help in going through your mother's things. It can be so comforting but emotional to touch these things with all of their memories. I remember sitting on my parents bed as we sorted Dad's clothes. He had sooo many sweaters. In fact each year for Christmas that was what he wanted and I got for him. That first Christmas after he died in November I cried my eyes out in the middle of the men's section of a department store. It would have been so wonderful to have been looking for a sweater for Dad.
ReplyDeleteYou'll have so many times like you are experiencing now, but try to embrace them. It is a very essential part of the process.
I wish I could come over and help you....

Lovely roses. I have to say that my heart goes out to you. I also had to clean out my parents home and I remember it being difficult. Well that was about 10 years ago and guess what? All the items were packed and shipped to my home here. I have boxes and boxes and still can't open them after 10 years. They are all labeled and stacked up neatly. Last summer my daughter said enough is enough Mom and opened one of the boxes and all the fun and loving memories of my Mom flooded back to me. Now I still have lots of boxes to open but my point is one day at a time or in my case one box every 10 years:) Bless you for having to pack up so quickly but please keep the important things to hand down to other family members even if you have to put them away right now. Happy Valentine's day to you.
