This cross-stitch is the cover of a box that I had made for mother-in-law's birthday. I made it to match the pillow that I posted this past Sunday (the 15th) which would have been her birthday.
LOVE LIVES ON
Those we love are never really lost to us--
We feel them in so many special ways--
through friends they always cared about
and dreams they left behind,
in beauty that they added to our days...
In words and wisdom we still carry with us
and memories that never will be gone...
Those we loveare never really lost to us--
for everywhere their special loves lives on.

I lost my mother-in-law 8 years ago today. I know I was very blessed to have the kind of relationship that we had. I'm sure very few people can make the statement that I have said,
"My mother-in-law was my best friend."
She was my mother-in-law, Mother, neighbor, and best friend all rolled into one, and even after all this time, I still can't believe that I can't walk to the house next door to me, open up the door, and say "Good morning, Mom, how are you today?" Then I would walk over the the coffeepot (it was always on) pour my self a cup of coffee and we would chat. Sometimes that was followed by praying together, or crafting together, or just having a good laugh.
She taught me to sew, cross-stitch, crochet, and how to enjoy life more. She lived her life to the fullest, and was called MOM by many people besides her own flesh and blood children. She was a great listener, a shoulder to cry on, and someone you could always count on. Mom I am so glad that the Lord put you in my life; you filled my life with such great memories. You will never be forgotten.
Ohhh Jill this box is as beautiful as the pillow! I am so glad you had such a special relationship with you mom-in-law!TFS

Thank you Connie, I made it so long ago, (and this is a recent pic that I took) I'm glad it held up so well, and she always had it displayed on her end table in her livingroom.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was very blessed to have her come into my life...Hugs, Jill
It is a very sweet box and an even sweeter sentiment! I too happen to be blessed with a pretty great relationship with my mother-in-law and sometimes even feel closer to her than I do my own mother! I pray that you'll only be left with the warm memories of your relationship!
ReplyDeleteThank you, aren't we the fortunate ones? Not everyone can say that they have or had a good relationship with a mother-in-law...Blessings Jill
ReplyDeleteYou are so talented. I am so glad to have read this post. It is so much in line with how I was feeling about my father-in-law today.
ReplyDeleteNow my Mother-in-law lives next door. That relationship isn't always easy...but I love her very much! She loves us too.
